Security Updates For Windows XP Until 2019
#1
Here's a simple little .reg hack i thought some users of the XP x86(x32bit) operating system may find useful.

As an XP user myself on one of my machines i went looking for a way of getting continued support post April 8th.

Below is the hack and a link is to a small application that will do the hack for you. If you choose to use the application, when installing it, don't just clicky clicky your way through the install. It contains 2 pieces of crap-ware. A browser add-on and a PC optimization software so make sure you decline to install them.

Anyway, 1st one is for XP_x86(x32bit):

1. Copy the code below into notepad. Save it as x86.reg (And NOT x86.reg.txt Wink ) to your desktop.
2. Double click on it and follow the on-screen prompts to merge it to your registry.

JOB DONE Smile

POSReady2009 Updates will now install on a normal XP x86(x32bit) machine.

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady]

"Installed"=dword:00000001

For x64bit operating systems, full tutorial can be found HERE.

Download XP Update Extender from HERE.

No. In Windows, when you have set it to not show file extensions for all formats, saving any file without quotes will use defaults. for example with Notepad, a regular text file format, .txt would be added at the end of the file if you do not save with quotes.

Example: Saving as README.REG would be saved as README.REG.txt, while saving as "README.REG" will be README.REG.
