(REQ) The Last Man on Earth
#1
Ah, The Last Man on Earth. Of all the adaptations of Richard Matheson’s novel I Am Legend, there’s no denying that this was the earliest. And the Vincent Price-iest!
Our man Vincent has come a long way from the House on Haunted Hill where he made a skeleton dance with puppet strings. Now he lives in a much smaller house, nowhere near a hill, battling madness and endless swarms of vampire-zombies. He’s living a life of isolation after a global plague carried through the air has infected the world’s population - can you even imagine??? (Yeah, don’t answer that.)
Now The Last Man on Earth spends most of his time gathering mirrors, garlic, and wooden stakes, because this disease is courteous enough to follow the rules of classic Transylvanian vampires. When he’s not barricading himself against the inevitable or hurling bodies into pits, he likes to sit down with a projector, watch old home movies and cry-laugh himself to sleep. Kind of like how we spend our time at RiffTrax!
Join us for some vintage Vincent at the end of the world, won’t you? It’s Mike, Kevin, Bill, and The Last Man on Earth!

Thanks blurg! My sisters and I have fond memories of being scared sh!tless whenever this was shown on "Doctor Scar's Chiller Theatre" (KGUN-TV Tucson, AZ) on Saturday nights in the sixties.

R.I.P. Jack "Doctor Scar" Jacobson (1922-1987), an Arizona TV legend and a very sweet and funny guy. Here's a short tribute:

Jam Handy, that's cool as hell. The days where most cities had their own sci-fi hosts must have been fun.
