I just finished last week posting some 24bit 96khz 6ch flac music uploading was no problem i hit the little check start seeding but out of all my music you cant see that im seeding...But i admit some nights i get 1 maybe 2 in all but some days no one is seeding at all but the leecher numbers climb every day by 50 so if there is no one seeding how can the leeching number climb..Doesnt leeching mean people have downloaded but didnt choose to seed.

The numbers are climbing because peers are joining the swarm, but they can't upload anything to each other until you upload something to them first.

You have to seed what you upload.

No. The term is sometimes mis-used to mean that but what it really means--and specifically what it means in the sense it is used on the TPB website--is simply downloading. ie. all of the Leeches are people who have not yet completed downloading.

As kjf points out, they can't complete downloading because you are not uploading.

You do have all those torrents in a running torrent client, right? All with status = started?

Like the others said, you have to be seeding, and enough for others (leechers, aka peers) to complete downloading the file from you. Once they complete it, they can become seeders if they leave the torrent open in their client (and have uploading enabled, etc.).

Not exactly sure what your specific situation is or if you are seeding at all. It would help to have a screenshot of your client, rather than a screenshot of your torrent page on TPB. But it's possible that you are trying to share too many torrents at once. From your screenshot, your torrents appear to be relatively large, and all uploaded within a relatively short period of time. If you are trying to seed 20 of them all at once, depending on your upload speed, how often you have your client open and seeding etc., that may just not be enough for anyone to get a completed file and to begin seeding themselves within a week. And the number of leechers shown (people who have only a part of the files) would support the fact that they are somewhat popular, and would be seeded if anyone could actually get the whole file from you.

I would recommend, all other things working properly, to only upload one or two torrents at a time, until you can see at least a few regular seeders for each torrent, before uploading another one.

But like I said and the others said, we're not even sure you are seeding at all. So more info please.

Not having a go at you Joe but since I've mentioned mis-use of terminology already, I'll address this here too.

Leechers and peers are not synonyms. It is unfortunate that the terms are used incorrectly, and in a way which makes no sense, more often than not.

Everyone in a swarm is a peer. That is the basic concept underlying the term "peer-to-peer". The bittorrent protocol doesn't even mention the words "seed" or "leech" it only refers to "peers", "uploaders" and "downloaders".

Within a swarm, some peers will have 100% of the files and some won't. The former are seeds (regardless of whether they're uploading or not) and the latter are leeches (regardless of whether they're uploading, downloading, both, or neither).

I know that, but since the op is a little further behind the learning curve, I didn't want to get too technical. A peer is essentially anyone in the swarm, but most clients don't list seeders/leechers and instead list seeders/peers so I thought that would be the best way to talk about it.

Btw NIK is a prick. Tongue Mods (including NIK) feel free to edit this post as you wish. Smile

What Iv done I had all my uploads deleted because I'm thinking I may have not checked off start seeding. What I'll do this time until my uploads catch on I'll set my uploads to unlimited..I have around 30 dvd audio and DTS and Blu-Ray high fidelity 24/96 6ch that I know will be popular, is it wise to add a little at a time or does it matter.

If you are going to be seeding from your home connection it is probably better to add a little at a time. Stop all other torrents you may be uploading to allow for all of your bandwidth to be used by your new uploads. Once those torrents show 5-10 seeders then move on to the next.
