Police Shoot Homeless Man Camping In Albuquerque (GRAPHIC VIDEO)

*A homeless New Mexico man who was illegally camping in the Albuquerque foothills was fatally shot by police. New helmet camera video released by the Albuquerque Police Department on Friday shows the moment 38-year-old James Boyd turns his back to officers and then gets shot dead. Despite overwhelming criticism to the shooting, the department says its officers were justified, KRQE reported. Boyd was shot on Sunday, March 16. Police Chief Gorden Eden said officers approached Boyd, who was sleeping, to speak to him about illegally camping in an open space, according to the Albuquerque Journal...* Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur breaks it down on The Young Turks.

kinda makes you wonder why a rop (repeat offender project) team was called to the scene in addition to regular police officers and state troopers... just to wake someone up for camping on public land. albuquerque is an interesting place...

Makes me wonder why our police have become paramilitary strike forces wasting
tax dollars. They use SWAT vehicles now to serve warrants. They were first used
for the once a year or so hostage or terror incident.

I'll bet if we looked at the old TV series SWAT it would make today's use
of the vehicles look like a joke. Tongue

What happened the the seasoned cop who wasn't afraid to use his boxing skills and a billy club instead or Stun guns and AR-15s? Bunch or cowards who look like navy seals.

swat vehicles and teams are used on what they like to call 'high risk' warrants... usually violent criminals.

as for the paramilitary comment... you have a point.

military forces are not supposed to be used against civilians so they kind of just created one that was not part of the armed forces that consisted of former members of the military. the formation of swat teams is kind of interesting and in a way, brings up the legality of the fbi since a police force with national jurisdiction was one of the things that the founding fathers didn't want being used against civilians also.

you can say that things change with time, and i kind of have to agree... but the rate at which the police are arming themselves with military hardware and the way the establishment is disarming civilians is disturbing.

Got to love how the news people who know nothing go on a rant about something... they aren't the ones that hear about cops getting hurt all the time from being to easy. Maybe they were a bit over force but than they aren't the ones standing out there in the middle of nowhere and know of 10 other cases of a cop getting shot or stabbed in similar situations. Is it worth risking your life for your job?

If the police are so jumpy and trigger happy maybe it’s a case of "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen"

If people didn't carry guns we couldn't shoot each other could we?

You don't need a gun to kill someone. Murder will always happen.

Shooting someone who is sleeping, and is clearly outnumbered and KILLED by a small number of officers with assault weapons is not justified in any way. It's called overkill, Stupidity, and a major lack of common sense.

All this guy wanted was a good night's sleep, and ended up dead.
It's not right at all.
