Hello i have a question , i was downloading a big 5 GB file via utorrent and while i was away , leaving my laptop without charging , my laptop shut itself down due to low battery .
So the question is , in such a case will it affect my downloaded files , like receiving corrupt or damaged files ??
Yes i know utorrent has "download resume" feature , but i didn't pause my download before my system shut itself down . So will it affect my downloaded files
thanks

No.
If you want to prove that to yourself rather than simply taking my word for it right click on the torrent and select "force recheck". That will, as you can probably guess, re-check what has been downloaded and checked up to this point.

Since BitTorrent uses a function that splits the content into pieces, the amount of corruption that might appear will be lowered quite alot. But like NIK said, If you do a recheck on the pieces you've download, you shouldn't need to worry about downloading the whole 5GB again

I can see the force recheck option , but it is grayed-out , and so i cannot access it
Its grayed-out , in both cases (when the torrent is downloading and also when the torrent is paused)

The torrent has to be stopped.
[Think about it--you can't re-check the state of something while you're in the process of changing it.]

If you recheck it and it shows corrupted/missing pieces then it will re download the missing chunks for you anyway

If you have pressed re-check and seen that it did it, it is safe to restart the torrent for downloading/seeding

I have had "losses" in crashes, that I would not have had with just stops and starts.
Not corruption of files, but rather some files have just gone poof.

No. While your torrent is started/paused you cannot recheck it. Once it is stopped you will be able to recheck it.
