Piracy in Pandemic - How Corona virus affects our habits
#1
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, piracy has been hit too. I can buy media, hardware, etc, but new releases are delayed and so there's much less material to pirate.
Also the economic effects make it hard to go to the big cities, where things happen, and it's very hard to find a new job to move from the countryside and get decent Internet.
Even with fiber options available, income decreased and we need to save, just in case. I'm currently using 4G mobile network with a 1GB/day limit, downloading a game will basically lock me out until next month. Even a medium-quality DVD encode is a problem now.

In times of social distancing and quarantines, electronic distribution seems to be a great thing, just not everybody can get Netflix, Pandora, Steam, even Facebook, and demand is actually rising.

That's why, more than ever, piracy is needed. Maybe even justified.

I feel with you. I've been on pay pr GB for 4 years in Ghana. In my current rural small-town some smart guy has set up an antenna that broadcasts 100mbit uncapped internets at 40$/month. Good business model as everyone is paying the same for less than 20mbit connections here (unless they can afford fiber).

Also, Piracy was always justified if you ask me...

Why, ill88eagle (other than the fact that you're not a party pooper).

I thought you can't pirate in Japan; they have stiff fines and tougher consequences, like 10 years in jail maximum.
