I like the comments they tell all the truth
why is torrenting so popular

They want the same content as overseas. they dont want to have to pay        
    a fortune to access low quality content at premium prices 3 to 6              
    months behind the countries of origin and then find that the series is        
    cut off half way thru and no longer broadcast.

If it's easily available via Google Play or iTunes we buy it.        
    If not, torrent or a streaming site.

A friend of mine wanted a whole Dr Who series. Went to JB Hi and was          
    prepared to pay. Wanted the Blu-ray version and was told Blu ray was          
    not available but he could have a standard def DVD set for 200+              
    dollars                                                                      
    Got the whole Blu ray set from the UK delivered to his door in 4 days.        
    paid $25 Au.
