I hired a PC consultant to help me with some problems I was having.
When he saw that I was running UTorrent, he told me that was a problem because the current version of UTorrent "steals" CPU cycles when the user isn't using the machine and it then does things the creators of UTorrent want to do but don't make public. I never heard of this before but this fellow came highly recommended and he told me there was a much better app available called "QBitTorrent" and I gave him permission and he uninstalled UTorrent and installed QBitTorrent.
The result is pretty terrible. Downloads are now proceeding much, much slower. I have gone through all the options on QBitTorrent and increased all the options that could possibly affect download speed. The speed did improve and it appeared to be relative to the options I changed. But the overall result is still terrible. I currently have the best option available from my ISP and would regularly get download speeds of one Meg per sec or more. Now, I'm lucky to get half of that.
I'd be most thankful if anyone here has some information about this and can advise me of the truth to these matters.
Also, I'd like to revert to UTorrent and get an older version. I originally installed UTorrent about two years ago. When I visit the UTorrent download page, I can't see any way to access older versions. Can anyone tell me if they know a way I can find older versions?
Thanks in advance.
