Not sure if people saw this. I did not see a post, so sorry if this is old news.
This Sunday, May 3rd, the MST3K Live crew will be doing a special online event at 6pm ET/3pm PT. Mystery Science Theater 3000 Live Presents: The MST3K Live Riff-Along!
They will be riffing the actual first MST3K episode.
The MST3K Live Riff-Along will be streaming on the MST3K Twitch channel, MST3K YouTube channel, MST3K Facebook page, and MST3K linear channels on Pluto TV, Stirr, Xumo, Redbox, and Vizio. Viewers can submit their questions for the cast and Joel to moderators via Facebook, YouTube and Twitch. MSTies worldwide are invited to chat along using the hashtags #MST3KLive and #RiffAlong.

So, it's gonna be Joel's sad nostalgia tour version? Kinda like the Beach Boys with just Mike Love and a bunch of jobbers, amirite?
meh.
I mean the idea is kind of interesting I suppose, but in a world where there are other "classic" mst3k castmates are still active and alive I think it could've been made genuinely interesting.

i just wanted to say this is hilarious and sums up my feelings perfectly in regard to the MST3K reboot and subsequent live tours.

They are actually riffing Moon Zero Two---my fav first season episode. But they are not riffing the movie, but riffing that early episode of season one. So 3 random strangers that Joel says are Tom, Crow and some lady, are riffing Joel Josh and Trace as they riff Moon Zero Two.
I love this ep and planned to rewatch it soon anyway, so I will check it out. But it's weird. They will be riffing a totally new short though.
I just hate that they've switched casts again. I liked Jonah and Hampton (Crow)....I admit Baron's Tom Servo didn't work for me, but I was getting used to it. Still it should be fun, just not as great as I think it could have been.

When my friend pointed it out to me, I referred to it as the "weird reanimated corpse that Joel threw together."
I hadn't even heard of the cast and didn't know that he got a bunch of actors from musical theater and puppetry to do this last tour. He's really intent on dragging out MST3K over and over, and repeating the same formula every time. I might have given the Netflix show more of a chance if he didn't pretend that the last 5 seasons of MST3K didn't happen so he could go back to the same formula and same characters over again. But this evolution is even weirder and more desperate.

I really enjoyed Cinematic Titanic ... why not stick with that mode? It seemed to be working both live and pre-recorded.
