don't want to download something big just to open 1 file & uninstall right after

What is it that you think you're going to find within the file? It is not going to contain a noob-friendly, single line "the game failed because your hard disk contains less than 12GB free space".

You don't just need a debugger you also need to know how to use it and how to understand dump files. No disrespect but the fact that you're asking how to open the file suggests to me that you don't have the skill set required to understand what you will find within it. It's a bit like someone asking how to open the bonnet of a car because "it won't start".

I should mention the file has been submitted to AMD,the games developer, and Samsung already
I wish to open it and see what it is and to work with them to see more specifics
on why the game fails to launch

we think its the edid of modern samsung displays not working with AMD drivers at launch(Extended display identification data)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_di...ation_data

I can look at the file and read/understand everything to the best of my knowledge
I just want to open & read what it contains I never said I would work on it or I would fix the game, that's for AMD or Samsung or the games developer to do

or is it possible to convert the file into anything notepad/wordpad supports?
keep in mind I don't know what a MDMP file looks like

OK, try http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html or, for something simpler, try WhoCrashed from http://www.resplendence.com/downloads

Neither one worked,it checks C:windows/mimidump for mimi dumps but there's nothing in that folder

*the game generates the mimi dump in the games directory NOT in the windows folder

I tried manually loading it but it didn't work (copy pasting into the windows folder & trying to open it manually in both programs)

*the mimi dump IS NOT a BSOD

a AMD lead support engineer said "•The Mini Dump file of referes to an eoor that is application dependent.
•The research shows that this might even come up with an Nvidia card and other steam based games, like Sleeping Dogs. Please see the link below:

That is right. You can't just open an MDMP file and read it like a book. They are files meant to be sent to microsoft or the developer to be analyzed, using visual studio, or something similar and most likely other applications. So if you want to read them, you have to use the same tool or tools.

No matter what you may discover in the dump file, it probably won't help you anyhow, since just opening one seemed to be too much of a task for you. Not trying to be a smartass, but what is contained in a dump file is pretty technical, and not easy to understand in any case.

If you sent it to the developer, probably about the best you can hope for is to have them respond to you or post a solution on their site. If you have a specific problem with a specific game you can always post here and someone may help you, or post in a forum dedicated to that game.

Those programs are for generic mini dumps. The fact that you can't open the dump files (and that they are being created within the game's own directory) suggests to me that they're in a proprietory format.

And, as I said, I don't think you're going to get anything useful out of them anyway.

I'm going to leave you here because I think you're on a snipe hunt. [I'm not being snarky, I just don't believe there is an answer to find. Anyway, I'm sure you're going to keep looking so good luck.]

ya I know they're meant to be sent to the proper people
I just want to take a look at the file, nothing wrong with that
*I know if you run disk clean up it erases them
it may not help but it also doesn't hurt to look at it & understand the things I know
opening it is no problem takes what 10 secs? finding a good small program that lets me open it is the objective

The games developer received a copy of it they said they would keep it in case they "update" the game
*they would NOT update the game, they blamed AMD for messing around with their drivers

of course it'll be "pretty technical" I probably won't understand 100%,but I will
understand whatever I can Not much users can do here already posted here before
the problem is most likely AMDs drivers NOT supporting modern Samsung's displays edid and/or firmware when launching the game (preferably hdtvs)
