Some can, others not. Depends on the source of the original rip. If the movie rip is from the DVD/Blu-ray from which the commentary came from, then yes. I've done this with all of my digital films.

Ahh, not all are watch-alongs.
I am among the few that still compile and author DVDs from movies using ConvertXtoDVD. I suppose it's because it's a lot of fun despite the fact that it's expensive; I use Verbatim AZO discs, which are among the best. I don't know why, but who cares?
I suppose that even though some commentary tracks are not in sync with the movies, I can still make use of them.
Thank you for the resources, Phaota, I think I might enjoy it!

To my knowledge, the vast majority should hook up with rips, even if a bit of minor tweaking is needed in an audio editor. Some past contributors to my archive have done this with Blu-rays syncs for films that never had the commentary ported to the discs or laserdisc tracks synced for Blu-rays. But, as originally noted, commentaries are basically audiobooks, so you don't really need the film to enjoy them, but it is still good to watch a movie with the track playing when so desired.

You said all audio commentaries are in English. Why need extra audio tracks? From different members of the film crew?

Yes, all tracks are in English. As noted before, some DVDs/Blu-rays have multiple commentaries, like one from the director, another with the director, crew and actors, yet another with just actors, or producers, etc.
