I'm not getting my hopes up. After all, only Joel is involved. Although, luckily he hired some good comedic talent, for the bots, anyway.

Seems like the audio sync goes in and out and the framerate is kind of wonky at times.

Ya, this new MST3K is pretty bad. Terrible acting, The "I'm being funny, telling a joke" voices are just bad. Much like Janet and Cole from Rifftrax Presents. The invention exchange is back, sadly. The SOL set is just cheap looking as hell, like it's only a backdrop. Some of the jokes are good (most are predictible), but get ruined by the "funny" voice. The saddest part is Felicity and Patton are very cheesy and not in a good way. And i'm only 45 minutes in.
It makes me sad that i was right about this Revival from the get go.

It's not the best rip, might be something about how VHX works. Just to tide peeps over until Friday mostly, someone else may be able to do a better rip.
As far as the movie goes, it was basically completely dubbed over even though the mouths are moving in English, so even straight on VHX it's kinda janky at times.

I really liked it despite the technical blips in the file. The movie riffs are top notch. I love Jonah. Some of the Host Segments could use some work. The rap was great though!

Thought it was terrific, myself.
Apparently they're working on a future live show and another convention.

Some of my initial observations:
- I liked the monster rap song
- Jonah is a decent host, I could see myself liking him over time
- The new numbered hallway is pretty cool with the rooms being in the shape of the numbers
- The new "bridge" on the SOL is definitely way too plain. The character from the old one came from all of the random things it was made out of, so it's a little disappointing that they didn't make a new one in the same style.
- As actors and comedians I really like Felicia Day and Patton Oswalt, but they're pretty flat in the new MST3K so far. Patton has an excuse because his wife suddenly died right before filming leaving him as a single father, but they both seemed pretty low energy, much more so than usual.
- New Crow guy is on point, Crow definitely feels like himself to me
- Baron Vaughn's Tom Servo was even worse than I was expecting from the trailers. Servo basically is Kevin Murphy for me, but even with that considered I think Tom feels out of character. It's like his Grace and Frankie character is trying to play Tom Servo.
- Seemed to be... less riffing than usual during the movie? Or at least lower quality perhaps? Seemed like there were long periods throughout where they could have been making jokes but they didn't.
- I could tell that Joel definitely had a lot of influence in the production and I think that most of what's good about what we've seen is probably thanks to his input -- goodness knows why he'd let Servo languish like that though.
- I liked Gypsy's old voice and persona, so I'm not an amazing fan of the new Gypsy
Overall I think it was a decent first episode and it could be worse, I still have my hopes up that some of the bumps are ironed out as the season progresses, but I'll have to pour one out for poor dead Tom Servo.

Interesting you think there was too few riffs as at times the only problems I had with the riffing was that I felt there was too many riffs crowding space.
