MST3K Season 11 (new season), Episode 1

I never expected it to be perfect out of the gate. A show like this will need time to figure out its own particular rhythms, but for a first episode I think it was a success and I can't wait to see more of them.

... but I'll have to pour one out for poor dead Tom Servo.

I feel like the overall personality and mannerisms of him were captured to an okay degree, but he just sounds so different it's hard to see the same character.
But I have to agree, Tom Servo basically is Kevin Murphy to me, and it's hard to expect another person to be Kevin Murphy.

Also, Tom Servo flies now? Did he always fly and I just missed it? That was strange near the beginning when he just floated up the screen. I feel like I was always watching Joel/Mike carry him...

I liked Gypsy too, but at least they addressed her sounding so different. Nothing about Tom. XD

The new crow does a good job. Love that they kept the same tune for the theme song. I think Jonah is a good host. I love Felicia and Patton as well, and was super happy to hear of their additions to the show. I think they did alright.

The main thing about this show that I hope people keep in mind is that the original was a hokey show. It was so unapologetically goofy that it won us over. It wasn't that it was the wittiest, funniest or even best show in terms of overall quality writing or acting or anything... it was the pure, unadulterated love of campy shit that drew us all in originally, and I honestly feel that spirit was captured just fine in the new episode.

I'm excited for the rest. I hope it gets support from Netflix viewers so that it can go on for multiple seasons.

Also, time will tell if the new writing staff is up to snuff. I know Mike was head writer on the original, even before he became host, and it helps explain why I feel as Rifftrax he really upped their joke game. Will the new MST3k have that same style of wit Mike brought, or will it have it's own identifiable style of comedy? And which would be better? Hard to say, eh?

Regardless, high hopes after the first one.

I would just implore people that if they've already got a Netflix subscription to watch at least *some* of the new episodes on there. Netflix are really going to be watching the numbers on this one to see if it justifies funding a second series. And unlike network television, they know exactly what those numbers are, so every bit is crucial!

And if you don't have a Netflix subscription and don't want to go through the hassle of a trial one, then fill your boots here

It's sad they're still doing ADHD jokes when ADHD doesn't even exist and is just a money making operation on healthy children.

Servo could always at least hover. In the host segments, he's meant to be hovering as opposed to having a hand up his tookus. The in-show explanation as to why he had to be carried into the theater was there was an "air grate" (in the first Mike episode when Mike doesn't know to carry him in).

Loved it only problem for me was gypsys new voice the persona isnt bad but guys do realize this is a PILOT

I enjoyed it. There may be some things to nitpick over, but I know it's in loving hands with Joel in charge.

I'm on the second episode and right out of the gate it's even better than the first one. What problems there were in Reptilicus are already being tweaked and addressed.
