Is there a "Use Last Known Good Configuration" in Windows 10?

I had the same problem in Windows 7, so I guess that might be the answer, if it exists.

No, it's not a restore point, just an option (if it exists): when you start up the computer, press F8. then the "Use Last Known Good Configuration" would appear as an option.

It "fixed" my blue screen error on my Windows 7, although I opted to wipe my hard drive and start over because I suspect that there's a virus.

Other than that, it fixed it.

Just searched for it and found this: https://neosmart.net/wiki/booting-into-l...stry%20key.

Hope this helps.

(And no, I never use restore points as a matter of habit either!)

EDIT: Forgot to add, the error I had that caused the nice blue screen was a registry error. Could differ in your case, but well worth a shot.

Thx Robert

That failed as well although I tried :

Code:
https://recoverit.wondershare.com/computer-problems/last-known-good-configuration.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8fCYn9T49gIVephmAh3TlQPrEAAYASAAEgKK4_D_BwE

Quote:Now, tap the F8 key on the keyboard continuously until you receive the “Windows Recovery Window.” In some laptops, you need to hold down the “Fn” key on the keyboard simultaneously.

By the was my screen is automatic repair loop not BSoD same as below :

I'm sorry about that. I guess it's not a registry error.

Anyone else? RodneyYouPlonker?

EDIT: Before I part, just tell us what the BSOD error was; is it an IRQ error? What error was it? It should be in caps.

Maybe we can better help you that way.

It's not really an easy thing to diagnose on an internet forum.  Really the best thing is to have physical access to the machine in question which sadly I can't do.  Not sure what is causing the BSOD could be hard disk/SSD or Ram problem, could be it simply just needs to be reinstalled and then in the future data backups need to be done so that there's no data loss.  Fail to prepare, prepare to fail is the saying...  It's true you need to be ready in case there's a problem like this.

Sorry that I can't be any help, you need to wipe it and start again.  Diagnosing on internet forums is hard going and sadly I am no good I need the machine in front of me to sort it out properly and even then knowing what is going on can take time and lots of patience.

Great point, RodneyYouPlonker.

To the OP: If you're going to wipe, do make sure that you can get into safe mode and put the important files in a safe place before you do so.
