First of all, amazing work, thanks a ton! I had a quick question, I noticed some movies that have two versions have significantly different lengths, one specifically is Return of the Living Dead. The Crywolf edit is 2 hours while the Patreon fanedit is 1:52. Is there a "definitive" edit? The fan edit looks much better, does it also edit out some commercials or something? I skipped through both seeing if I noticed any differences but they seem pretty similar?
Oh, also, I'd never seen Drive In Theater before. Do all the episodes only have a Joe Bob opening and then nothing for the rest of the movie?
Hi tbr2062 ,
The folder that I post has media from several sources. This contains FanEdits that I created along with a few others.
For my edits, I combine the newly released Joe Bob segments from the Patreon and edit them in with the highest quality versions of the films that I can locate up to 1080p. These are all with stereo audio encoded with x264.
I've also created a Friday the 13th Monstervision edit (v4) that combines media from multiple sources to re-create the marathon, but with unedited 1080p films (and fewer commercials).
Crywolf was trying to re-create a VHS\TV style version of Monstervision by scaling the films down to 4:3 aspect ratio to match the host segments. I'm personally not a huge fan of this style, but it's kinda neat.
The FanBluRays were created by someone else. These are basically BluRays of The Last Drive-In. There haven't been new ones posted for a while, as far as I'm aware.
The Last Drive-In is an archive of the current show since some of them get taken offline due to streaming rights and not being available in some countries.
The Lost Drive-In is the Patreon content (along with FanEdits that I've created). This consists of mostly 2 shows:
Joe Bob's Drive-In Theater - This was Joe Bob's show on The Movie Channel that ran from 1987-1995. Here he introduces (or bookends) films and sometimes has some really cool interviews with special guests.
Monstervision - This was his show on TNT that ran from 1991-2000. Here he introduces a film and also interjects with each commercial segment (Similar format to what The Last Drive-In is now). There are no commercials (except for the Friday the 13th edit).
These are all typically double-features.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or anything.
I'm currently working on the next set of edits (I've been working on these in 3-month segments), but it's taking a bit longer than normal. I'll make a new reply anytime there is an update.
Thanks,
RunRunBill
Ah, thanks for the in depth info! It's too bad about Drive in Theater, I like his show way more when he talks about the movie throughout, especially with how bad a lot of the movies on that show are, haha. Would make some of it way more watchable.
No worries.
Drive-In Theater has some interesting episodes and they show some wilder films than on Monstervision. I agree with you that the interruptions are a better format, but you may want to give it a try. There are some really fun interviews. I highly recommend the Kathy Shower one:
2021-03:
1994-10-22 - 01 - Wild Cactus (1993) [480p]
1994-10-22 - 02 - LA Goddess (1993) [480p]
You can also just watch the Joe Bob Segments if you're not interested in the films. It's a really great time capsule. I don't know of many other people looking to give these films and actors a spotlight at the time.
Will do. Appreciate all the hard work! I discovered Joe Bob on Shudder a few years back and never even heard of Monstervision at the time, never mind Drive In Theater, so I missed all this stuff while it was airing.

Just checking in. Looks like the Monstervision hasn't been updated since March?

" On a side-note, I'm dealing with some personal issues lately (nothing too terrible, but it is taking time away from editing). I'm planning on picking this back up in October sometime and should have some new uploads shortly after. I may end up releasing 6 months worth of content at once. We'll see how it goes. Thank you for your support and patience.

By the way I came across this in a post here last week and was wondering if someone has some of the episodes listed that haven't been shared already by RunBilllRun and others.
Great! Enjoy
I think that monkstah is keeping track of the episodes. I'm not sure how to message\alert him on this forum, but he's usually around every now and again.
Thanks,

Here you'll find the Jamboree as well as the 5th Blu-Ray. I think I may already have Fan-Edits for all of the new Blu-Ray content, but I haven't checked yet. If not, then I'll have that out with the next set of edits, hopefully in October.

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to take a sec for a quick update.
It feels so good to be back editing. I'm hoping to have April-June's edits completed by the end of this month (October). I'll then work on July-September which I'll hopefully have done by November. I then hope to have October-December's edits completed by February.
Of course, I'll always prioritize quality over speed.
Thanks again for being such a wonderful community. I appreciate all of you kind words and patience. I hope to have more Joe Bob for you soon.
Thanks,
RunRunBill

Cheerio RRB. I appreciate the update, sincerely. I know a lot of these kind of passion projects fall by the wayside and disappear. But your updates mean the project is alive and well. Eagerly anticipating they're ongoing distribution whenever you are ready. Thanks for the update and for your continued commitment to restoring the cherished memories we all have.
