I, for one, appreciate the fact that TBP hasn't shit the bed to get into every whiz-bang new fangled thing just for the sake of being edge-lord. IT does what it needs to do without a bunch of bullshit.

No, but that doesn't means it couldn't use some extras. Mods (fan-made extensions / front-ends, maybe)?
You can find some scripts and even an off-line tool.
