Reading back in this thread I see now that I never knew how much being handicapped had protected from the outside world.
It's dark times we live in and things are only going to get worse. I'm just glad that my offer was accepted on a piece of land in rural Montana.

I'll have to modify my mobilty scooter into an amoured tank because otherwise I wouldn't last 10 seconds in a fight.

that's why i have several thousand rounds of 50 cal. rifle rounds, 9mm, shot gun (bird, buck, and slug), 306, 308, and 50 cal magnum rounds each i think i have over 3 million rounds total for all of them.. i'd have to check the vault.....

My plan of action is just to put out stuff for the mass barbarian hoards of land pirates to take while I hide in the basement under a bunch of old rags. Because I stink even at video games of this type.

I think this development answers OP's question better than any analytic attempts posted here- but it proves some attempted points very neatly. Even the most indignated ones of us are succumbing to the superimposed structures of individualization, economicalization and dehumanization. Each to his own and so forth. Well, enjoy your own on your own...

Could it be that people are being trained to view more acts as mean and violent rather than changing their demeanor towards malevolence? After all, 30 or 40 years ago things that were considered flirtatious can be construed as sexual assault. Simple school yard fights are being considered as cases of serious assault in some cases.
I think this scenario is more likely. I think this trend is a good thing in general - it represents introspection in society and a recognition that behaviors we used to consider as acceptable aren't really all that acceptable. It goes to far some times, but shit happens.
