Here in my country of Canada, our government has chosen to levy a copyright tax on every piece of trecordable media rto be paid to the artists' groups. (so I pay them copyright even if I only bought the DVDRs to save home movies of my son's growth. They OWE me some copyrighted material, & I'll take it!

Paying copyright means I have a RIGHT TO COPY!!! (not to distribute, I know the difference, so I only throughload while I'm downloading. For all I know the file source has paid distro rights -- not my problem)

Here in Canada, it's required learning since French is an official language along with English.
