How to stop Donald Trump
#1
The man -- and I use that term very loosely indeed -- is a fraud and a menace.   Any and all suggestions welcome.

Vote for someone else...?

Almost invariably a reasonable suggestion.  But there's never been a U.S. election season when I have less faith in democracy.

If greater than 50% of the voters vote Trump, it is their choice. That's pretty much how democracy works. The problem isn't the idiot looking for the votes, it is the idiots doing the voting. Call it the result of spending more money on overseas wars than education.

Keep in mind, even if he is elected, he still has to deal with congress, and we've see how that's been (not) working.

Regardless of who wins, we all lose.

I think you should always vote for the person/party who represents better your ideas, and if none comes close, then don't vote at all. It's the only way you can make a stronger party or movement in which you can believe in.

In this specific case, both candidates represent a similar version of a corrupt relation between politics and money, which is at the root of most social problems. So you won't win much by electing the democrats.

Let me guess - you're another Progressive, Socialist, Left wing radical. If you love it so much, go live in Venezuela or Cuba to name a couple places. See how much you'll like it then.

Oh, how I want to talk about this....but I'm an Aussie, so my opinions are not really valid here.
All I can say is this is pretty scary form the outside....I can't see anyone murdering Trump, so I can't see him not becoming president.
The upside is he knows how to get things back on track economically. The scary part is at what cost. ♥

He is the lesser of two evils than Clinton.

Do you actually think he'll follow through with his populist policies ....

True conservatives hate him, e.g. wanting public healthcare, donating to Democrats, etc.

At last, something we agree on.

I think he will try to follow through with his policies but two things are against him. Firstly, he doesn't actually know what his policies are: they change depending on the audience he is addressing and the number of likes of his latest tweet. Secondly, as Moe points out, getting things through Congress is hard enough when you aren't a massively polarizing figure. He'll be stonewalled all the way.

well, if he had of taken the money his daddy gave him and put it in an index fund tracking the s&p 500, he'd have more, even post GFC

his investments weren't the best, and he chapter 11'd when it went to shit

anyway, he won't be making economic decisions, his advisors and the faceless men will. my concern is hillary's faceless men need to appease her donors.

attempts at throwing out mexicans will be probably blocked by SCOTUS under the 14th amendment, more likely as Scalia is gone. The wall is massive fiscal expenditure when US public debt is, well, you know. It can't be privatised well as shooting mexicans isn't profitable, so the government will pay regardless. will a fiscally conservative congress pass such a bill? who knows.

also australian here, watching with great interest.
