Hardware System Requirements - Increasing and Increasing
#21
There is no *need* to feed the beast.
Ones upgrade cycle should be according to ones needs, and not the foolish 'early adopter' nonsense that the korporate marketers impose upon us as 'kewl'.

I work off an ancient C2D and mechanical HDs. I have 3 SSDs sitting in a box, along with a newer GPU card.
I have newer machines that can do extra things, but those are usually related services I do not need, and mostly do not want.

I just pulled out and restored 2 XP machines. Many uses for them, just not multimedia!!

My logic is simple: As micron lengths are getting smaller and thermal migration has returned , I prefer relibility over
a technology driven by a scheme to drive me into the cloud. No thank you.

Plus the real reason: The older the hardware the less Ring Zero hobgoblins it has.
