Going on a hunch; the worst call i could have made
#1
Usually, my own judgement precedes my success and attrition of valor. I don't usually act without thinking several different scenario outcomes.

This time, I figured my ISP would probably be uncomfortable seeing that I pirated so much pornography in 24 hour period, and I had hoped whoever noticed might just sweep it under the rug, for a man must heed the call of nature every so often, or destruction will lie in his wake.

This didn't happen for me, and i'm actually being sued 225$ for every porno i downloaded.
I downloaded about 115 pornos[, in attempts to amass a database/plethra so I would not need to go through those youtube formatted porn sites, filled up with ads, absolutely disgusting content, and usually, rather mediocre.

So if they do indeed discover all the downloads (They've only managed to find 45 thus far) I'm looking at a hefty 22,500$ fine, which I currently have exactly 0 dollars and 0 cents to pay with at the moment..
Sort of the reason I don't just buy a membership.

Anyways, if i'm unable to convince the jizzbaggies at comcast to drop this, my life my be utterly destroyed, I'll likely be kicked out, thus homeless, and have no degrees at the time, with no prior work experience. Basically, I couldn't get a job unless I move to texas and find myself a good band of illegal immigrants to usher in as my new family.

Good lesson to be learned here. Just tick on your fackin' VPN. You have a much higher probability of not indirectly making your IPS and cabel provider think your one of the most twisted beings in all realms of existence.

Normally, the ISP doesn't care what you are doing but if you live in a country like UK honestly, you were quite dumb for not using a VPN or a proxy Sad

I agree. I boldly assumed that because pornography is such a personal thing, whoever to discover the 70 GB porn feeding frenzy would feel they were commiting a great incursion, which in my opinion, it very fackin much is an intrusion that my ISP is angry with me for not paying for all my Anal POV and group orgie porno's, and feel so righteous as to email every single occurance and charge a obbhorant rate of 225$ per porno, when you can easily google the scene you need from specific pr0n and find through shitty hub sites. (coulda shoulda) but they're not in super HD..... so hopefully they decide not to end my life before it starts...

I live in the US.
I dunno, I just felt like downloading 60 dollar games and starving developing companies was much worse than downloading the porn. I mean, it's so easy to make, the production costs are miniscule, and they charge such outrageous prices that I can't help but instantly thinking 'Id rather masturbate to my imagination than pay these rates'.

I think i'll use my PIA from now on and wait the extra 2 or 3 hours for the low speed download.
agghhhhh

Let it go to court. Don't agree to anything. Don't respond to letters.
They need to prove it was you who downloaded those torrents. That's going to be hard.

They're counting on porn being awkward to tell your family about and that you'd rather pay them off than face trial than admit you've seen Sex Orgy 11.
They're not suing, they're blackmailing.

If you've downloaded from your home and you didn't used a router, you're dead (unless you'll prove that some other unknown hacker has been able to clone his IP address to yours only to download porn).

i meant to reply to this earlier:

OP: your post makes no sense... comcast can't demand money from you for downloading content that they themselves don't own.

so, just to be clear... you are either full of shit or you have no idea what you are talking about.

for anyone else that finds this thread interesting, this is what happens:

1) a swarm is being monitored by a copyright holder or a third party contracted to monitor the swarm by the copyright holder.

2) the copyright holder (or their agent) sees your ip address and sends a threatening letter to your isp in hopes that your isp will forward it to you [[[THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER STILL HAS NO IDEA WHO YOU ARE AT THIS POINT]]].

3a) you ignore the letter and laugh like a swash-buckling mother-fucking pirate (hopefully) but consider investing in a vpn to keep the nosy fuckers out of your business.

3b) you respond to the letter like an absolute twit and probably give the forces of darkness a way to identify you at the same time and i'm not sure what happens after that because i've never known anyone to be so blatantly fucking stupid that they would willingly respond to unsolicited threats from shady copyright extortion gangs.

so let that be a lesson to you all: unlike herpes; ignoring the problem will make it go away*.

Comcast can't charge you money for it. The copyright holders sure can try.

Comcast just passes on the threatening letters.

To requote the relevant parts of Stormium post:
1) a swarm is being monitored by a copyright holder or a third party contracted to monitor the swarm by the copyright holder.

2) the copyright holder (or their agent) sees your ip address and sends a threatening letter to your isp (in this case Comcast) in hopes that your isp will forward it to you [[[THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER STILL HAS NO IDEA WHO YOU ARE AT THIS POINT]]].

So what probably happened was that you went on  download spree, BuxomBabesEntertainment sent Comcast a threatening letter, Comcast forwarded it to your dad, your dad passed it on to you and only mentioned it came from comcast.

He's not lying, he's simply mistaken about who the threatening party is.

You're still in the shit, only you were shat upon by a mule instead of a donkey. The fact that it stinks doesn't change.

I'd read this and lawyer up. If your dad hasn't responded to the letter, keep it so. He'll get more, ignore them.
