Demonoid client
#1
Demonoid is having some trouble, and people complained about missing torrents, while Deimos is away, allegedly busy with other pressing matters.
But I've seen the site login is not working (at least not for me), the search box is gone, and there's a specialized client if one wants to use the site's services.

Not the first time a dedicated connection app pops-up on Demonoid, if memory serves me; but I'm scared of that kind of stuff, even more under constant risk of a pirate site being subdued by hackers or authorities, like it may be trapware.

Did anyone check it or heard from a trustable source?

I think this is a trustable source:

Should be http://www.demonoid.pw

Currently Demonoid is completely down at the moment. Just waiting now for something to happen it could take weeks. Until it does if it's not Demonoid.pw then it's a scam site. Whatever you do avoid it like the plague that scam one. Really dodgy stuff goes on with that scam site like stealing all sorts of information and it's definitely not to be trusted one bit avoid like your worst enemy.

They call Demonoid the come back kid cos usually it seems to bounce back from time to time due to having problems but yeah the only guy who fixes it is the owner and he trust nobody to do anything on there other than himself. Demonoid is very good once it's working but does require the use of Script and Ad blockers when you're browsing due to the dodgy scripts that end up on the site. I usually toggle the script blocker on and off like when logging in, switch off, then script blocker back on again before you do anything further then it's safe. Search engine on Demonoid seems to suffer at times with broken search controls but usually there's ways to figure it out if you press like certain things twice then they work also running in Linux makes Demonoid search engine buttons work properly then but in Windows they don't...

Can I ask here, what would be the benefits of Demonoid over TBP (aside from fining a torrent that's not on TPB?). I downloaded from TPB last night.

What do you guys like about Demonoid? NOt that I'm saying it's bad, I'm saying I'm really unfamiliar with it. I think I D/L'ed once...I guess I'm an old dog doing my old tricks...

It's purely down to the uploaders and having the better description field to use. It's more like a forum so you can post up lots of pictures and big full description. That's what I do. I managed to fit in the entire Star Trek franchise into there with all the screen dumps I did plus the covers and information about each movie and it all went in there it was quite good really. The sad thing about TPB not being able to put much of a torrent description which is why I don't usually bother with TPB. It's good for putting your magnet on TPB and getting it out there for people to find but really having the Demonoid description available is a lot better. The Demonoid announce that they provide you with when uploading does nothing really and is usually inactive most of the time so at least something else instead like coppersurfer or something like that is better. I'm not a huge expert when it comes to Announces. I found that ages ago Demonoid were putting extra ones in their torrents so when you uploaded they added them automatically but then they stopped that after a while and I don't understand why they did that but where as TPB they just automatically use their own Announces. I'm sure they use the coppersurfer one usually. Those Announces that Demonoid added automatically a while ago I've been using them since as I was able at the time to download all my stuff back from the Demonoid server and get them all added to my torrents which was good for the old stuff as the old Demonoid ones were still there on the older torrents.

Let’s be generous and call it one of TPB’s many “quirks” — as someone who likes detailed descriptions, believe me when I say I understand your concern — but that is no reason to avoid the site.  You know you can post in Account Issues and ask staff/crew to edit a torrent title and/or description, right?

Who said anything about avoiding the site I've been around this site now for a number of years. Since I created my Rodney account I would say since 2014 and before that as well.

There were people that uploaded torrents to Demonoid that didn't upload to TPB, so from the standpoint of a leech, there was a reason to go there as a supplement to TPB.  I also found the descriptions useful.  On the bottom of the descriptions, there were links to related torrents and it was convenient to click on them rather than go back to the search results.

It's interesting about Demonoid, you can usually just download the actual torrent file. They did used to have magnets on there but they took them off some time ago. On TPB if you want the torrent file then you have to go into your Client's program folder like for me in uTorrent I just go into the Users folder and it's in there in the uTorrent one and you can access all the torrents you add to your client. Even if it's from a magnet. One thing about Demonoid is that when you download torrents from there it always put the .TORRENT extension in capitals on the torrent file so you always have to change it back to smallcase like .torrent if you want to add it to a seedbox. I've always used rTorrent for ages and you can't add torrent to that that have .TORRENT extensions.

Demonoid is/was really good. I'm sure it'll be back soon. I like to upload to both Demonoid and TPB that's how I've done it for ages now. It's just that usually I make these descriptions that can take a while and I can upload them to Demonoid but you can't do them in TPB as there's no way they would fit. You only get so many characters in TPB and if you go over that (not sure what the size is exactly) then your torrent will be rejected and it can be hard enough trying to upload sometimes even just with a simple small description. I know that Demonoid has suffered over the last few years where at times the description field has caused problems and torrents have not gone through and it's because of some glitch in the server which was sorted out a couple of times. You simply had to put a small description in instead and your torrent worked then when uploading. I did that a few months ago actually and then later on after a few weeks time I was able to put the description back like I wanted it to be. Actually being able to edit that made it possible which is always a bonus on the site.

Oh yeah also not forgetting that you can actually upload a vast amount of files contained within a single torrent on Demonoid. TPB limit is about 1000 files where as on Demonoid possible to actually contain thousands as I did about 10 years ago on there. Uploaded a music torrent that I made myself, took me 14 months to make, contained about 6669 mp3s plus all the covers about 800+ albums in total. Was possible on Demonoid but not on TPB never would it have worked otherwise I would.

RodneyYouPlonker Man you are good, and your arguments/detailed explanations/comparisons are dead bang. And done in a neutral observers way.
You are not bashing or selling just laying it out for the readers. Very well spoken. Anyway thankx much for sharing from your experience it is actually refreshing.
