The Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) rejected what it considers a war of disinformation and censorship surrounding the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which encourages Russophobia.
A statement issued on Monday by UPEC Chairmanship criticizes actions to disconnect Russia, ban its media and condemn journalists.
These measures, never used in the face of multiple U.S. invasions of numerous countries, are also an attack on culture, amplified to the point of medieval inquisition with Russian literature and other artistic manifestations, a neo-barbarism inconceivable in the allegedly cultured Europe, the statement says.
Thanks to the censorship against Russia Today (RT), Sputnik, and other Russian media, the text adds that the only story that seems to exist is that of Washington.
It notes that the United States, together with NATO, has proclaimed itself the judge of the world truth. Its communication platforms label the profiles of journalists working for Russian media and independent reporters and technical personnel who have provided services on a subcontracted basis.
Nobody dared to do something similar with CNN and Fox News when they made possible the disinformation that ended with the massacre of a million people in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, in bloody chaos that persists, adds the group of Cuban journalists.
UPEC reaffirmed its peaceful vocation and solidarity with the victims of the conflict in the statement.
It also stressed its warning "about this war against information, against honest journalism and against culture, a war that demolishes concepts and values conquered by all mankind throughout its history."
