Attempted Coup or Civil War? Chaos Erupts In Russia
#1
Yevgeny Prigozhin, President Vladimir Putin's erstwhile close ally and "chef", and now the the head of Russia's biggest and most murderous mercenary army The Wagner Group, is engaged in a march on Moscow, having already passed through Rostov-on-Don near Ukraine on his way north.  His stated aim is to punish certain "traitors" and "thieves" in charge of the Russian Ministry of Defense that he accused on Friday of deliberately ordering a rocket attack on his men, killing a number of them.

Prigozhin has had a running feud with Russia's MOD for months, mostly accusing them of starving his troops of ammunition and other necessary supplies.  But Friday he amped up his attacks on Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of Staff Valeriy Gerasimov, accusing them of "tricking" Putin into believing that Ukraine and NATO posed a present danger to Russia, which simply wasn't true (no duh).  He claims that they thus started an unnecessary war to burnish their own personal and professional reputations at the cost of tens of thousands Russian dead.

The Russian government meanwhile has issued an arrest warrant for Prigozhin, and tightened security around government buildings in Moscow.  Many Russian officials have called for Russian citizens to stay indoors and avoid contact with the Wagner rebels.  An internet blackout (of course) has been imposed.  Putin released a statement branding the rebels as "traitors", without naming Prigozhin.

It seems unlikely that a man with Prigozhin's brutal reputation will calmly submit to arrest; his Wagner Group is accused of numerous war crimes and human rights violations in several African countries, Syria, and of course Ukraine.  He is hardly an attractive candidate to replace Putin, if indeed that is his goal.  Meanwhile, it is fairly certain that Ukraine will exploit this chaos in Russia as part of the ongoing counteroffensive.  Exactly how remains to be seen.

Now it appears that Belarus dictator and Putin ally Aleksander Lukashenko has negotiated a temporary truce between Prigozhin and the Putin regime.  Prigozhin claims that his men got within 200km of Moscow before he ordered them to turn about and withdraw to "our bases" (without specifying where they are).  The scorpions are circling each other . . . .

Just sounds like more and more war propaganda again...  I'm surprised you're still even buying into it all, I would have thought you'd have come to your senses by now?

What do you expect with all this when it comes to the BBC and CNN, they just love writing all this stuff it gets them all excited and turned on..

They can write whatever they want but it depends on whether you're going to buy into it or just go about your daily business.  Their ultimate goal is to try and spread all this news as far and as wide as possible with the hope that people will be scared out of their wits.  Whatever they write I think I'll go and tune into the cartoon show instead as it makes more sense and plus you have more fun...

If you want the brainwashing show then make sure you tune into the BBC and CNN channels daily.  Put your brain into the washer and turn it on at high spin and watch brain get the wash of its life.

Being fed this much propaganda is not good for your health dear boy so I'd advise a turn around before it's too late...

You can thank me later, you're welcome Rolleyes

I know Putin is no fool; all dictators are resourceful even if their empires are about to collapse front in of their eyes.

He'll escape and maybe strike back when you least suspect it.

That's the scary thing.

Remember, he has KGB training.

Oh, he will definitely strike back;  Putin is not the forgiving type.  Prigozhin is a dead man walking; his only hope for survival was to finish the rebellion he started.  Ultimately, no great loss.  Prigozhin is an even greater war criminal and fascist than Putin is.

Incidentally, Putin is likely a dead man walking, too.  Russians historically are unforgiving of leaders who start wars they cannot win.  There is speculation that Putin already has elaborate plans to escape Russia should the need arise.  Even if that is true, his chances of making it out don't appear good.  Even if he did make it out, he would be a hunted man.  He wouldn't enjoy a long and peaceful exile like Kerensky;  there are simply too many people that want him dead or in prison.

Well, you acknowledged that Putin will strike back, meaning he isn't a dead man walking.

Well the days of Putin being president or maybe even being alive are numbered, that's for sure
During this alleged coup it was exposed to everyone what state Russia is currently in, being almost overtaken in under 24 hours? That's a new low to hit
You can bet your ass that the whole Putin environment has witnessed the weakness of his 'authority' and 'power' which is built upon fear and constant bluff
As for Prigojin he never said he's after Putin, apparently they've made some deal about the ministry of defense and its head which was Prigojin's goal all along. To add more one of the air crafts gunned down by Wagner had certain high ranked officials on board which are all dead, in total there was I believe 7 or 10 people on it
