>> Computer turn off
#1
Hi. I have a personal built computer that I installed hacked Windows 7 Ultimate from thepiratebay about 10 years ago. Now my computer's monitor somehow turn off and the mouse turn off too, but I still see the power light on the computer's power button. I tried to press and hold the computer's power button for 5 seconds but the computer don't turn off, and I can still hear some tower fans running. What's wrong with my computer? I took a snaphsot of Speed Fan temp and see the voltage is off. Is there problem with my PSU I need to change or I need to install another hacked Windows 10 to be more updated?

Here's my computer specs:
Gigabyte motherboard GA-880GA-UD3H
Processor AMD Phenom II x4 965 Processor, 3400 Mhz, 4 Cores
16 GB Memory
1 TB SSD
Video card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 2GB RAM

It sounds like your monitor went to "sleep mode." Just press a key and it might come back on.

Either that or the computer has "hibernated." If your computer is hibernating, just restart your computer, go to the Power Options, and turn off hibernation by putting a 0 minute countdown.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: And oh, some monitors are known to go to sleep even if you turn off sleep (i.e. "put hard disk to sleep" or "put monitor to sleep"). Case in point: my Linux Mint box. In that case, you might want to push the power button on the monitor a couple of times and then it might come back on.

We actually need to see your computer to make an accurate analysis.

This happens to me sometimes as well, on Win 10/11.
It's rare, so I can't really pinpoint what is causing it since so many things could cause it.

A few months ago I changed out my memory for something newer and I haven't experienced it since.
Maybe run a memtest on your memory? With the PC being so old, it's not hard to imagine parts wearing out.

I turn off the Hibernation mode all this time so that's not the reason. I just open my computer tower panel and switch the power cord to the graphic card with another similar power cord from the same PSU. The computer has been running good now and have not turn off the monitor yet, so maybe that cord from the PSU to the graphic card is getting used for too many years and getting worn out. Hope the computer still run smooth and on for many hours of continuous use.   Smile

Sorry for mistaking the error, man.

I hope it's better now.

Update: I think the power cord from the PSU to the graphic card is getting bad and worned for over 5 years of use (got the 650 Watts PSU 5 years ago). So I use a different power cord from the same PSU and plug into the graphic card. Now my computer is running for 2 hours without turning off the monior and mouse. It think that was the problem all this time. Thanks for helping.

Not good news. The monitor and mouse turn off again after 20 minutes of use at 2 am Pacific Time so the temperature is not the problem. I used Chrome browser and have 8 tabs open at different sites, so maybe that's the problem? Just keep Chrome tab to four max to not overload something in the computer (RAM?, CPU?)? I did RAM check and they look good.

If it's after 20 minutes that's probably the power plan.

By default windows has the hard drive turn off after 20 minutes of idling.
Control Panel -> Power Options -> Change Plan Settings (for the one selected) -> Change Advanced power settings -> Turn off Hard disk after, change it to 0 -> Ok

Can I say , why use so oddly pirated Windows? I mean, sure not pay, I don't care, but just turn it equal to legal digitally, check the hashes and load from Microsoft directly, then use an Open Source KMS server on a separate device or a phone. I hope it's not related.

10 years is a very long run, the reasons could be many. For instance, my older netbook has a weird issue of bugging out, after 8 years, shows white noise & freezing, then overheating and shut off, more often when I enable the integrated GPU. Some signs point to dying capacitors of sorts, something in hardware, the same stuff on Windows. Are you sure your motherboard is in the perfect condition, have you carefully looked up if something is odd, have you tried to change other variables? It's very hard to recognize the real cause from the screen of my monitor by text. I surely could do a clean legal install of Windows 7 or 10 if I were on your spot, then KMS on a phone or Raspberry Pi, for starters.

I forgot, my oldest Sony TV from dozens of years ago does strange stuff at times. I think it never hurts to see if the behaviour reproduces with another monitor/mouse, if you can.
