Unless some proxy is altering the magnet link, how they are handled is up to you and your configuration. Make sure your browser is configured to pass magnet links on to uTorrent (or whichever client you prefer to use)

Tor doesn't like it when you try to use it to download things, including magnet links. It's easier to copy the magnet link and paste it into your torrent client.

Post an example?

TOR, is for "looking", not "taking". Right click on the Magnet and "Save Link Location...".

Poltergeist via TOR:

Code:
magnet:?xt=urn:btih:1f9855520f4035a1f2de39691c57467d6c602512&dn=Poltergeist%20%282015%29%20CAM%20X264%20AAC%20NEW%20AUDIO%20MURD3R&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.openbittorrent.com&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.publicbt.com

Grab the Poltergeist torrent:

Code:
magnet:?xt=urn:btih:1f9855520f4035a1f2de39691c57467d6c602512&dn

No proxy, including Tor, has anything to do with how magnet links are handled because one does't "download" magnet links.

magnet is a protocol, much like http, ftp, and irc are protocols.

For those out there that still used a dedicated e-mail client rather than webmail, when you click on an http link, it automatically launches your web browser and sends it to that link, because your e-mail client knows that that particular browser is your preferred handler for http links.

If you have an IRC client installed, and someone sends you an irc:// link, or you view it on a web page, when you click it, it will launch your preferred IRC client.  If you don't have one installed, nothing will happen.

Same thing with magnet links.  When properly configured, anywhere you can click on a magnet link, it will launch your bittorrent client and pass it the link.

No copy/pasting required as it is handled entirely within your computer.

So mine doesn't work?

I guess that depends on what you mean by "doesn't work"

It's like saying that a .txt file doesn't work.

If you double click a .txt file and nothing happens, it is because your OS doesn't know what app it is supposed to open it with. Tell it what app to use, and it will remember.

If clicking on a magnet link does nothing, then tell your browser or OS what app to send it to. There is no straightforward answer because every browser is different, and some let the OS tell it how to deal with magnet links.

Tor browser is no different than any other when it comes to dealing with magnet links. Tor itself doesn't even enter into the equation.

OP hasn't been here since the day after he posted his question, and it was answered, over a year ago. Thread was done at that point. It's overdone now. /closed
