Anyone know where Amazon Prime downloads the video on your phone?

Can't you just buy it on DVD instead?  That way you could take a nice clean copy from the disc using some old school ripping tool?

You'd probably get a much better quality that way, I'm not a big fan of capturing cameras like what RobertX is saying, I'd rather see a direct copy from an original.  Originals especially DVDs don't cost much these days, even Blu Ray doesn't cost much probably cheaper than buying from Amazon Prime, I saw a Star Wars 4K movie going cheap yesterday it was just over £5 an absolute bargain.

Trouble with these phone downloads they already know everything about you as that's the whole idea which I'm not big into phones myself I tend to avoid.  Because you have to sign up to get the actual apps they know every single thing about you like where to find you it's like being hunted by the Mafia you simply can't escape.  I know what you're saying about capturing on Retro equipment and using firewire to connect the file that's fair enough but surely this movie from the 1960's wouldn't you just be easier to buy the DVD if you want to PM me the title and I'll have a look for you???

I would use the HDMI cable plugged into the camera.   I'm NOT going to point the camera at a TV and hit record.

I know I can use my computer and old school firewire to effectively download into one of my cameras.  What I'm wondering is if I can do similar with a TV and a HDMI cable.

You guys are pirates.... You should be helping me brainstorm a solution to this problem instead of just telling me it can't be done.

Capture it into your PC using a decent modern card. Surely that would be okay, is that what you're asking?

Will it work? Probably, the people who create digital content they don't want it to be so easy otherwise everybody would just do it. Amazon and the people who make your camera don't want it so easy because it's not always designed to work that way. With me not being an expert on Capture Cards I have very little experience to offer. Sorry if this annoys you but really I'm out at this point... Good luck anyway..

I GOT THE FILES !

But now I've got a new problem.  The files are like this :

They're absolutely unwatchable ! It looks like Amazon has a proprietary codec. So I'm now off to search for it !

I found that modern cards are less efficient and it seems like DRM security has somehow been incorporated into them.   Low tech always seems to defeat high tech and this case there's no difference in quality.

Many apps have features that allow you to transfer the file from your app to your computer. You may need to follow the instructions from the app's support page to properly transfer the file. Once the file is transferred, you can then make it available for sharing.

Getting the video wasn't too difficult.  It was the codec that was a nightmare and what I'm using is OK but it could be better.
