How do I get a VK.com account without a phone?
#1
This site seems to solve all my problems.   The only glitch is that it's Russian and I'm NOT!
So, it wants me to sign up with a phone and my American phone number won't work!   Plus NONE of free SMS services work!

/// UPDATE !
I scanned the QR code and it downloaded some sort of bank app.
Then it wanted me to upload my ID.

/// UPDATE #2
The app which MUST be used to sign up is going full psycho with my phone contacts.

It looks like I'm going to have to try and buy an activate VK profile.
Unless, someone who's Russian wants to create one for me.  Smile

To the best of my knowledge, VK is not supposed to try and coerce anything, beyond your phone number, out of you.
One of the best bets for you to is to buy an existing VK account. Those definitely shouldn't demanding any additional info from you. I've logged into mine a few months back, and the only thing on there that's anyhow "verified" is my phone number.

Alternatively, here's a number rental that I believe is ran by Russians, so you might have a better number with renting Russian numbers from them:
sms-activation-service dot com
I have used them on multiple occasions, mainly to register Twitter accs.

A third alternative, which you will find much harder to work through (but which is nevertheless possible), is to source some local SIMs from Russians. I've had success purchasing 5 pieces of totally legit non-stolen SIMs intended for corporate use from a vendor on Telegram. If you ask them nicely-enough (and soup them up with a wad of cash), they might even ship them internationally. But beware of scammers, especially if you'll write to them in English.
As bonus, here's a bot that sells a bunch of underground e-things, on Telegram: @graver_robot. I've just checked, and they are selling SIMs. Not sure if they'll ship internationally. But I've done one transaction with them, and they are legit. Though their rates can be steep. If you will want to have a SIM - I would suggest starting with them. Even if the bot's menu will be in Russian-only, look for contacts in bot's description. This bot is a long-standing one, and I am sure you'll be able to work something out if you get in touch with the bot's maintainer.

This is all very good information and the kind of piracy that I LOVE getting involved with!   I also think Telegram's underground markets are awesome !

My only concern about buy a sim is that it's probably not going to work with my phones or in the United States.    I was going to try and just buy a profile on BHW but there's soooooooooo many scammers there that I'm probably just going to get cheated.

I'm going to check into sms-activation-service.   Hopefully they take crypto or I'll have to get a pre-paid visa.

VK, the popular Russian social media platform, has recently implemented restrictions on new user registrations from US phone numbers. This is likely due to the ongoing geopolitical tensions between Russia and the United States, which have led to various sanctions and counter-measures impacting cross-border digital services.

The reason your account is being "permanently blocked" immediately after creation is that VK is enforcing these new restrictions on US-based users. The platform has likely automated the process to quickly identify and block any new accounts registered with US phone numbers, in an effort to comply with the current geopolitical climate and any legal or regulatory requirements.

Unfortunately, as a US-based user, you are currently unable to create a new VK account due to these restrictions. The platform is likely taking a hardline stance on this issue, aiming to prevent any potential workarounds or circumvention of their policies. Unless the geopolitical situation changes or VK relaxes its stance, US users are effectively barred from joining the platform.

I've just also dug up Airalo. I've not used them, but quickly googling for issues that Russian SIMs might have in US have yielded this. An e-SIM vendor. They are not underground, but might be enough for your purposes.

As for the factual issues of Russian SIMs abroad - I don't believe there are any restrictions at present. My last experience in EU in late 2022 was just fine (short of the premium charge for roaming). What will arguably be a bigger issue for you, is topping that SIM up. However, with 2FA disabled you shouldn't need that SIM for anything, other than the registration OTP confirmation.

And please let us know if you've had luck with sms-activation-service dot com

First, I'm going to see if I can just buy a profile.     But, there's a language problem and the Hindu vendors don't seem to know Russia exists.

2nd attempt will be the online sms activations.

I probably will NOT be buying a sim.   Once it gets to that level of difficulty then it's not worth it to me.

UPDATE :

The Hindu sellers failed miserably ! Doing business with them was everything I figured it would be.

On the other hand, the online SMS activation worked but you got to use the paid ones. It cost me $2 for the profile.

Excellent news!
And that SMS activation site has very affordable prices.
Bear in mind, though, that you will not be able to rent the same number again in the future. So disable anything that might relate to 2FA auth and stuff like that.
