Anyone from the 70s or 80s here? Cause want info about a ghost adoption agency

I was told that in the late 70s and early 80s there was a woman that ran an adoption agency for ghosts.  They said she was on TV and everything but I can't find any clips or info. 
Just want to verify that the story is true or not.

I know in Chinese customs, I think Taoism, you can "own" a spirit and it can act as your servant.

EDIT: But to answer your question, I am from the 80s. I am born in 1982. All this talk about spooks and shades, well let's just say I don't really know much about it.
