I just heard the Mayday classic "Do You Ever Shine" just a few days ago, and I've started growing a love for Japanese Pop Music, even though I don't speak a lick of Japanese.

Are there other Mayday classics that I should be aware of?

To answer your question (thread title), I don't think anyone outside Asia does.
When I was there it sounded like chipmunks singing Purple Barney's on upbeat tempo, and looked like a japedo's wet dream.
