Am i Sharing? (using Miro)

Hello.
I have a Question, perhaps somebody can help me here...
I have the Programm "Miro" ( http://www.getmiro.com/ ) to connect with piratebay (and by default obviously other Bittorrent Service).
The function "Sharing" (german "Verbinden") i have off ("AUS"). When i Download a File (the File goes into a "Miro Downloads" Folder), can other users now download the File (and all other Files into the "Miro Download" Folder) and find it via piratebay and other Bittorent Services? Or must i put the "Sharing" Button to "ON"? Am i Sharing all the Files into the "Miro Download" Folder, even when i have "Sharing" on "OFF"??
Sorry, perhaps the question seems a littlebit naive, but im using this not so often...

Yes thanks, the most of this, i know allready. When i read this, it seems so, that i dont share anything when the Sharing/Connect Button is Off. 
But i wonder if there is any hidden or default function, that allows Sharing anyway...
