Add a .onion address for TPB upload site
#1
As of now only thepiratebay.org has its .onion address.

How about adding a .onion address for upl.thepiratebay.org. It is still in https right now.

Come up with this idea because when https goes down no other way to upload but to keep trying on the https.

I like his idea.
With Cogent on TPB tail, best thing to do now would be to make TPB on Tor working just as it works on HTTPS 'till the mods and admins get to a solution with HTTPS Ip blockade.  Idea

It sounds like a good idea, on the face of it.

But were it to be implemented it would make blocking spammers and scammers even harder than it currently is.

Even if it wasn't raped to death, there would be little if any marginal benefit in being able to upload torrents at times when most downloaders weren't able to see them.

tl; dr = it's not going to happen.

I was about to suggest the same, but now that Sid has made it clear what might go wrong, I think it is better this way.

Waiting for TPB to come back online. Cheers guys! Smile

Simple solution is to allow skulls only to upload via the onion
not so many to ban if they spam which is unlikely

howcome Im seeing new torrents on the status page?

how is eztv uploading if not onion or https?

all I get is a cache page.

cheers

That would be a simple solution but giving preferential access to a subset of uploaders is against the ethos of the site. It's not something Winston has ever been particularly inclined to do and I'd certainly argue against it. You already escape the ads and the captcha, that's enough.

right now TPB is down
i want to upload a torrent and I tried to upload it using http://uj3wazyk5u4hnvtk.onion/
but it moved me to apage on the public TPB not the one on tor
so I'd like to suggest allowing members to upload torrents to http://uj3wazyk5u4hnvtk.onion/
directly instead to moving them and this way everyone is happy
in addition to that the tor site is always up so if TPB is down we can upload torrents with cool heads
please consider my suggestion/request

That would make it even harder to keep bad torrents off the system.

It's not going to happen.

This sounds like a hassle, since TOR uses random IP's.

thanks for the explanation but I have three questions
1- who is winston?
2- why did the connection time out?
3- is the tor website hosted on a different server?
