Best Current Youtube Downloader?
#1
Hello

I'm looking for 2 types of Youtube downloader that are currently still working well?

One that's really easy for my dad to use (and pref no references to porn as some have had)
He's using Win 8 pro with Chrome at the mo, but I will update him to Win 11 Pro soon with Edge, or maybe chrome.

Also interested in second one if it performs better for me (keep it simpler for him).  I still like simple, but always good having something more powerful with more options.

Thank you for your help.

I always use download managers for Youtube downloading; I use two (on different computers): IDM (Internet Download Manager; great name, huh?) and XDM (Xtreme Download Manager, great name if you have to download porn in mind).

Other than those, I also use JDownloader. Better for batch-downloading files.

Since youtube-dl is now devoid of any support & updates ceased to come out, I began to use ytdl's fork yt-dlp, it works just fine but I had to install a few MSVC++ redists. https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp

https://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/ this is great for youtube and many other websites, be warned if you try to get this free off many other websites it often has viruses , this is one bit of software worth buying from the official site i listed

I have it, I use it, and there are no viruses on my computer.

And I already suggested IDM.

How come you use so many?

I would have thought if one worked once it should work on all Youtube?

Why do you use each one specifically - why this one for this scenario and that one for that etc?

cheers

What are these exactly... fork?

Are these like boomarklet applets or something?

Are these safe/secure?

And I have Win 11 (again Dad has 8.1 at the moment) - would I still need the redists if win is up to date?

Cheers

Are you sure these are false positives?

I'm pretty sure that every virus scanner out there flags anything to do with cracking/patching/keygens etc as a virus even if its not?
No doubt they get paid by Software/content providers to do so.

I use IDM for small, individual files.

I use JDownloader for large files from say, 1filchier, MEGA, etc. More often than not, I have to queue them so they download automatically one after another. Yes, the free versions of those cloud services take a while in between to download, but such is the price for free.

So I guess the answer to your underlying question is I use them in conjunction because of the magnitude of the files.

By the way, I use XDM on my GNU/Linux computer; IDM is for Windows.

You mentioned "1filchier, MEGA, etc"

Whats the full name for the MEGA one?

I think I know the kind of 'cloud services' that you mean - like rapidshare?

What are some other good ones and where do you find the torrents?

I've never used these before as I've had no experience with them and am a little hesistant/concerned they might be trouble?

Any advice with using them for free?

Have you ever paid for one?

I've ended up at these download pages before so I know what you mean about choosing the extra slow free version or paying for faster?
But that's about it?

Regarding torrents in general... I currently use TPB, RARBG, 1377x, and EZTV.

What are other really good, well known, relatively safe torrent search engines to use for things like 4K Movies and TV Shows, and Software?

mega.co.nz

Just copy the URL of the link and it automatically goes into the queue of JDownloader.

No, I don't pay to use those. It would mean spending vast sums of money for nothing. It's not because I'm a proud moocher, it's because that even if I pay, I'd still be doing something "dishonest," so why not go free 100%?

Some of them require you to put in a Captcha, good luck with that.

But if you have a VPN, just stick with torrents. I don't and have been hit hard by my ISP when I use public torrents. My mother got one and freaked out, and threatened to punish me. You know how mothers are, even though I'm a forty year-old virgiin... such unremitting shame.
