Viruses in Software
#1
Hi, I am new to piratebay. I just downloaded some torrents via qbittorent and one supposedly has a virus in it? I don't have any antivirus except the Microsoft Defender one. So my question is: If I download the torrent from a "VIP" badged user, is it safe to use? I heard Mycrosoft Defender isn't good at detecting malware and often makes wrong positives. Yes, I used a VPN (Mullvad VPN) for downloading. The Virustotal score wasn't as promising either.

That's quite a lot.

Is this file needed by you that you can't get another copy to substitute for?

Yes, it's the "patch" file, which is needed to activate the cracked software without any key. There also is no other version of this software on piratebay I could use. Should I test it in a VM first?

Well, it's important to understand that antivirus companies are software firms too like Microsoft, and as such, would like to steer you away from using cracks or keygens.

Omit what I just said in this forum and, in its place ask yourself this: do you trust the source?

Truth be told, it surprised me, and you should probably get another, but if you're not getting from somebodyswhoremom.com and got it off, say, The Pirate Bay, where people volunteer and admins alike, are helping the sharing experience safe, you can rely on your judgement.

The decision is yours, but if it was mine, you can try VMs.

I'd use it in a nice windows 7 VM, not a fan of the newer Windows.

Me too, although my mother likes 10.

She is willing to download updates as a price to keep it.

EDIT: Original poster, tell us more about this program you're trying to crack. I take it that it's called Sapphire. I've read other posts in other websites. Is the original developer "Boris?"

I've searched for your term and found this: https://teamos-hkrg.com/search/93641/?q=....01&o=date

Does this search help you?

Could you download and install it on another device that does not contain any personal data? An old laptop for example?

I've been depending on it for years and it still hasn't failed me.

If you're going to talk about places where you can get viruses, you can also say TPB has them, or 1337x.to, or anywhere.

Don't want viruses? Buy the software.
