Is it possible to Jailbreak an XBOX One Console?

I don't normally ask these kinds of questions, but it does seem long enough to have some kind of progress.

Is it currently possible to mod an XBOX One console?

Just asking, a "yes" or a "no" will suffice.

I have no idea. I've yet to get another console. I was thinking Xbox One but have yet to commit.

Google says it may not be necessary to jailbreak it If you are running RetroArch...

If it says it may not be necessary, I'm assuming it's probably possible.

Good point.

OK, back to my half-working PS2 and XBOX 360.

My PS2 doesn't work on old discs, be it burnt or not burnt, but whatever; at least it still works.

OK, enough with being off-topic, so back on off-topic.

I've seen websites that say that it is possible, but it doesn't seem wise to trust them.

Back to collecting welfare cheques to get a PS4 then. Smile

All consoles can be modded.  I did mine a while ago when I was playing on a PS2.  You just had to open it up and install a small mod and that was it.

From what I understand that most gaming piracy happens on Consoles, not on PC.  Really it's not hard to do a lot of them, usually just requires changing the firmware on the drives where you load the disc up from.  If you can access the inside of the console to get to the drive you can flash it with a different firmware so that it breaks the lock to stop you from playing copied games.  Going back years it was very easy to copy the games.  The problem is when it reads the disc and for the PS2 I had a special disc that I bought which loaded up a code for the drive and then you had to stop it from spinning, swap to your game disc and then load it up again and it was like the console didn't even know you'd stopped the disc spinning and ejected it.

All consoles can be modded or flashed.  You just end up breaking the warranty agreement that's all and if you end up with some kind of red ring of death or something like that or where the screen goes black because the graphics chip got overheated well then you can't send it back to be repaired because if they look at it and see you've got a mod on it they'll get you into trouble and you'll be reported so you'd have to bin it.  These things don't cost much anyway so really if you had to bin one then just buy another.

As these things come out so do all the mods, you've got to remember there's a lot of clever people in the gaming industry so breaking into one of these things is not really hard if you know your stuff.

Just thought everyone here should know, it's still not possible to jailbreak an XBOX One to play pirated games, but you can still turn it into an emulation machine. I don't need those as I can play emulated games on other systems that I own.

It might still be of value, however, in that you might be able to play older console games. If it's possible for the One to play Playstation 2 games, then it's worth it, because you see, if you want to play PS2 games on a PS2, you would have to open up the system and solder a mod chip onto it. Either that or you can buy a Free McBoot if you still have a fat model with a hard drive built-in. This used to be free, but I have not found a dealer that does it for free for years, so you would have to contact someone in a classified ads web site. Canadians can use Kijiji; it's reliable and I never was abducted by a dealer and made to strip dance on a table before.

OK, now that I said my piece, you can go back to work.
