After spending the past 36+ hours, and I'm approx. 9 minutes away from finishing the torrent, and then I see this post.

* Yes, the alansmithee mp4/srt content streams seem to be the same as those in the BTN mkv files (or vice-a-versa)
* Both now have dozens of seeders at 100% and I tested alansmithee's download and got ~1MB/s
* Have you started alansmithee's share? Just wait, it should finish soon
* Are you deciding which to get?
** If you need/like mp4 alansmithee should be great
** If you want mkv files or a more "standard" Scene release these BTN files would work

I'm sorry about that, I've been there many time and feel your pain.

Yes, I think alansmithee's mp4/srt files have the same content streams as the BTN Scene release that I put up about 12hours after the alansmithee share.

How are they different?
* mp4 vs mkv container - this might help folks wanting mp4
* separate sub file for alansmithee though the subs in the mkvs can be easily extracted
* alansmithee's files (or at least s11e01) have some nice extra meta-data, e.g. description, genre, type, etc

But the mkv release from BTN has a big distinguishing factor beyond using the mkv container:
* it is a "Scene" release and thus will be widely distributed

Note, mkv containers are the standard for Scene releases: "Container must be Matroska (.mkv). MKVToolnix is the recommended muxer". Just search on: scene rules container

Plus, from first hand experience, mkv is much, much easier to work with. I use MKVmerge from MKVToolnix with virtually every release of mine. Mp4's only advantage in my eyes is it might work better on some Apple platforms (particularly older OS/devices) but I think Apple now supports mkv just as well as mp4.

Despite this, alansmithee had a 12hour head start with the mp4 release. But it was really choking when I tried to download it yesterday morning when there were 100+ clients hitting 1 seed.

So I refreshed all my search tabs that I had set up to look for the original Scene capture/encode for S11. I found the BTN release at a private site, "MS", and got fantastic speeds down, like 5-10MByte/s.

I was a bit torn about sharing it on TPB since the mp4/srt release was already here. But the download speeds felt impossible and maybe other people will do the trick I did and get the mkv release from BTN at MS then share it on TPB via my magnet.

So, that's why I posted an additional share for S11. I was able to download a Scene release at a private site super fast and since Scene releases are viewed as "standards" I thought there'd be more uptake.

Not exactly the same - the containers and some meta-data differ - but the content streams seem to be identical. "essentially the same content" is right on.

Yes, purely from an efficiency viewpoint, 1 share would be better.

But choice is a good thing and I do not want to trump anyone else's sharing efforts.

I checked about 1/2hour ago and alansmithee's share had about 22 seeds in my swarm at 100% and the download was about 1MB/s - pretty good. I only stayed on long enough to get the first and last parts of s11e01 so MediaInfo would work and I could see the max dl speed. I've dled only 57.6MiB of alansmithee's share since I don't want to burden the swarm.

Anywho, sorry for the long post - back to viewing s11e01!

You would need the actual torrent file to upload to TPB rather than a magnet link.

I'm also going to guess MS uses a private tracker, in which case the private flag will need to be unset before uploading to TPB. Something that can be quickly done at http://torrenteditor.com

Note, this will result in the torrent having a new hash, which will create a new swarm that will need to be freshly seeded.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone, just laying out what to expect.

This is what I did:
1) download private.torrent.file
2) use private.torrent.file in client to download 14 mkv episodes
3) pause/stop private share
4) create an nfo file
5) create a par2 file for the nfo and the 14 episodes (I still do this cause I used to also post to usenet)
6) create public.torrent.file for the 14 episodes, par2 file, and nfo
7) upload public.torrent to TPB and let the magic happen

If someone with access to MS wanted to download from the super-fast private.swarm and then use those files to share with the public.swarm:
1) download the torrent and then files from the private site
2) pause/stop the private share in the client
3) copy the public.magnet from the TPB page for the 14 mkvs/par2/nfo
4) load the magnet in the p2p client, save to the existing location
5) the client should see the 14 mkvs and hash check them; qbit and utor give the option to not do the hash check which would save a lot of time
6) there would still be the nfo and par2 to download but that'd be fast
7) now the public share is at 100%

Optionally, a user could restart the original private.torrent share and upload both public and private in parallel since the hashes differ (the public has an nfo and par2 the private lacks).

This is probably much ado about nothing since I think every user (except maybe me!) is just gonna click either the private.torrent or one of the two public.magnets and download a single copy and be done with it.

But I'm always scheming for p2p sharing tricks... sometimes I get carried away with my over-thinking.
