How do I make Daz3D lag less?
#1
I donwloaded Daz3D and even though I my computer setting are good (I even have GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card for this).

I have a good amount of delail and everything seems so clunky. So much on the screen and whenver I load something and play around with things, the delay is pretty substantial. Not to mention rendering my first photo which was only a girl with clothes + an environment took me about 13 minutes and the whole time my computer was slow as hell.

Anything I can do to change this? I read this, for example ----> https://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro...id=2894150 , but I have no idea where to find that shit, cause I just installed it yesterday.

Any advice? Thanks Smile

Download this scene and let it run, see how long it takes:

According to a number someone posted, the 1050 Ti should be getting 7:02 min render time. (http://direct.daz3d.com/forums/discussio...hmarks/p13)

Hope you got the 4gb card Big Grin

Thanks for the reply!

I was wondering where do I put this start-essentials in? Which folder and how to activate it etc?

Thanks again Smile

DAZ Studio is a resource heavy program. And the rendering process is even heavier.
What counts most for IRay rendering is the video card. And yours is not that fast of a card to begin with.
So, what I'm saying is that all this is normal and there's little you can do.

You can improve your computer's performance during rendering (not the actual rendering time, just the other stuff you do during that time) by excluding the CPU from the process. It contributes very, very little, so you don't need it.
1. Go to Render Settings pane (there are multiple ways to do that, the most basic one is Window -> Panes (Tabs) -> Render Settings)
2. Click on the Advanced tab
3. There is a list named Photoreal Devices were you should see CPU and your video card
4. Remove the check from the CPU

This should make your PC usable for other stuff while you render. Basic stuff, you ain't playing game while rendering of course.

Rendering is like car racing. If you want to go faster, spend more money.
In reality, get yourself an old laptop, or repurpose an older desktop with Linux (Ubuntu) and keep that for going online. My graphics computer ONLY does graphics and never goes online. This keeps it free of anti-virus and other cycle sucking crap.
