Invite Request Penalty?

I've been reading what.cd's Interview process
and it says you can't ask for invite on forums,
but they can be offered on forums.

Requesting invites to—or accounts on—What.CD or other trackers is prohibited. Invites may be offered, but not requested, in the Invites Forum (restricted to the Power User Class and above). You may request invites by messaging users only when they have offered them in the Invites Forum. Unsolicited invite requests, even by private message, are prohibited.

I see people asking for requests here and wondering...
Did asking for a request (here or anywhere) disqualify you? 

That said, I do want something,
but it seems I can't ask, lol

I doubt they monitor the forums here, and even if they did, unless you used the same username there as you use here (bad idea) they have no way to know.

My first thought was, "what a bizarre rule".

Then I read it again and realised that you have misunderstood it and hence you have misrepresented it.

They're not saying you cannot request an invite to what.cd here (or on any other forum). What they are saying is that:
- what.cd members cannot request invites to private sites on the what.cd forums (or via what.cd PMs).
- what.cd members can offer invites to private sites on the what.cd forums;
- what.cd members can PM anyone who offers invites.

That is a little bit OTT but it's not entirely unreasonable.

and it still comes off we can't ask.

I might be wrong, I admit that. But in the end,
they wanted to record home IP (no VPN) so I thanked them and wished a nice day.

I never had any doubt that you had posted it verbatim. But you misunderstood it, and you are still misunderstanding it.

Not only would the rule you are asserting exists be completely unenforcible, the second sentence provide definitives context for the paragraph. Nowhere else has an "Invites Forum (restricted to the Power User Class and above)". They are very clearly talking about what you can / cannot post on what.cd itself.

If you become a member of what.cd you cannot post invite requests there. That is all they are saying. You can post offers, and you can reply to people who have posted offers but don't pester other what.cd members for invites.

That is not unreasonable.

It's the way it was writ in that 1st line that scrambled my brains.
Like "He doesn't know that we know that he doesn't know what we know, but we know" kind of threw me through a loop.

I know what you mean--I knew it was "off" somehow but I had to read it a couple of times before I realised what they were trying to say.

As for them wanting your home IP address? That's really is ridiculous. I'd have done the same as you did at that point. [To be honest, I would have been far less polite about it. That's fucking retarded at best and it's borderline seriously dodgy. ]

This may sound odd or maybe I just clicked past it but how did you get vip and how do you build your reputation this is only the second forum I every used the first being arachnoboards to get mates for my big girls  but even then I get bitched at because I guess I ask in the wrong places any where I can go to get the run down?
