Ok noob, follow these steps carefully Smile

I'll divide this into three sections.

Section 1 will cover how to rip any video you find on sites (Youtube, Dailymotion ect.).
Section 2 will cover how to rip content from a DVD.
Section 3 will cover how to rip HD content from your TV.

Section 1:

Step 1:

There are a lot of ways to download videos you find on the web. Lets start with the most basic way of approaching this.

If you find content from you-tube you wish to download, you can go ahead and use the following website to download any video.

Link -------> http://en.savefrom.net/1-how-to-download-youtube-video/

It is so easy, even a caveman can do this. All you have to do is enter the URL of the you tube video and click the download button. You can also select what quality you desire for the video your downloading.

Step 2:

Lets say, you want to download a video but its not on You tube. This is also another easy way to download videos.

In the following link, there is a application named "All Video Down loader". It is quite simple to use, with its noob-friendly interface. It can download any video content from more than 190 video streaming sites.

Link -------> http://all-video-downloader.en.softonic.com/

All you have to do is download, install, enter the URL of the desired video you want, and thats it.

Step 3:

Lets say, your still not content with the previous steps because you still cant download certain videos at a certain quality.

Ok, when I'm placed in this situation, I like to use one of the following two programs. These two programs will allow you to download any video at the original quality.

Link -------> http://kickasstorrents.video/zdsoft-scre....html#main

ZDsoft is a easy to use screen recorder. With it, you will be able to record the whole screen of your PC, or a custom dimension you can create with your mouse cursor. Or if your just to lazy, you can also use its window target feature and record your content.

Next program is one I like to use the most.

HyperCam is also a easy to use screen recorder. I like this one better because it has more features then ZDsoft.

Also make sure to download HD or good video codecs to use with both with these programs.

Section 2:
Step 1:
This will be a easy section to cover Smile
For DVD's, I like to use VLC to rip my DVD's at excellent quality.
Link ------> https://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Ok so, download the program and install.
Step 2:
Now that you have it ready, insert the disc you would like to rip.

[Image: FBK7JIDF8DOSS7J.MEDIUM.jpg]

Ok click the "File" drop-down menu and click Open disk. Select "DVD", make sure the "DVD menue" box isn't checked. You might want to click ok and see if the main movie plays. If it doesn't change the value for "Title" to 1, if that doesn't bring up the main movie, try 2, and so on. You can also change the value for "Audio track" if you don't want to play the English or whatever the default language of the disk is, and the value for "Subtitles track" if you want English or another language subtitles. Click the "Stream/Save" box then click the "Settings" button.

Step 3:

[Image: FEYIXS5F8DOSS7H.MEDIUM.jpg]

Check the "File" box under Outputs. Don't check the "Play locally" box unless you want to watch the movie as you are ripping it. Now select the encapsulation method. I would recommend ether MPEG1 or MP4 (if you want to put it on a device you have to use MP4 and with iTunes you have to use MOV.) Now select your video codec (I'd recommend Divx which is DIV1, DIV2, or DIV3 or MPEG which is mp1v, mp2v, or mp4v (if you want to use it on an iPod and/or with iTunes you have to use mp4v). Select your audio codec, you should always use MP3 unless what you want to use to play it requires another codec.

Step 4:

[Image: FUS8A7YF8DOSS7F.MEDIUM.jpg]

Now, next to the "File" box there is a button that says "Browse". Click that. Select the file you want to save to then under file name type any name followed by the file extension for the encapsulation method you selected (if you you selected MPEG TS, PS, or 1 type .mpg at the end of the file name, if you selected Ogg type .ogg, ASF type .asf, and so on but don't type any file extention if you selected RAW). Hit "Save" then "Ok".

Step 5:

[Image: F1CTRZQF8DOSS7E.MEDIUM.jpg]

Hit "Ok" and the transcoding will start. If everything is setup right it should look like this (it'll be playing the movie if you selected "Play locally"). The only problem is that it only rips at x1 so if you have a 2 hour movie it will take 2 hours to rip. Once it's done you can play it on any media player or device that supports that file type.

Damn, thanks man Smile Will a Hauppauge HDPVR work? I got an older one (the one with only component in & out on the back), and how the hell would I get that set up to rip TV shows Tongue I recently tried to stream Hulu Plus on my PS3 and capture that, but it didn't work too well. I don't know if it was the program, the settings or somethin else, but I'm just so confused about something thats probably painfully simple Tongue

A Hauppauge will work, but you say that yours only has component in & out?

What model/version do you have?

I thought you had the 1212 HD-PVR, but regardless you should be able to record/rip TV content.

There's two ways two record TV content noob Smile

1st would be through PC

Assuming you have this model

[Image: hdpvr_passthrough-b.jpg]
[Image: hauppauge-hd-pvr.jpg]

You should be able to record and save HDTV content by having your pvr hooked up to your TV {Component cables} and the USB cable connected to your PC.

Below, is a guide to help you record content and save it on your PC

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 1: Hardware setup
To get started, you'll probably want to find a permanent spot for the PVR in your media cabinet. There are many video cables to connect, and connecting/disconnecting them each time you want to record TV would be hassle.
 • Connect the HD PVR to an outlet
 • Plug the component video and audio cables from the Video-out section of your cable box to the Video-in section of the Hauppauge HD PVR.
 • Finally, connect the USB cable from the PVR to your computer.
Before you continue, install the HD PVR Windows driver and the Total Media Extreme recording program, which can be found on the provided CD. Note that this software is only compatible with Windows. If you're on a Mac, you'll need to purchase additional software.
Step 2: Configure the recording software
With Total Media Extreme installed, and all the appropriate cables plugged in, you're ready to start recording live TV. All the recording is done in Total Media Extreme, and the files are saved to the desktop location of your choice.
Launch Total Media Extreme and click "Record TV." In most cases, you'll see your TV's feed show up in the video preview box right away. But, before you start recording, tweak these settings in the left sidebar.
 • Video Input: YPrPb
 • Audio Input: S/PDIF
 • PC Audio Mode: 2 Channel Stereo
 • Format Settings. Click this and look at the bit rate slider. This will determine the quality of your recordings. A low bit rate produces a fuzzier video of a smaller file size, and a high bit rate will produce a high-def video of a large file size. A good middle ground is 7Mbps; you'll get clear video quality without hogging too much storage space.
 • Recording format. You have three options: MTS, TS, or MP4. If you plan to burn the recording to Blu-ray, choose TS. Otherwise, choose MP4.
Step 3: Start recording
Whew, you're almost there! The good news is, once you have all the hardware and software components configured, you'll rarely have to tweak them. Now it's time to record some live TV.
At the bottom of Total Media Extreme, you'll see a field titled "Save to..." Use this to determine where the final rendered video is saved. Above that, you'll see a Capture button and "Capture duration." If you only want to record for a specified duration, enter it in that box, which is formatted in HH:MM:SS.
Finally, hit "Capture" to start recording.
Once you have these basics down, explore the HD PVR's advanced features, like scheduled recordings and burning Blu-rays. More information can be found in the provided quick install guide.
If you do plan to make recording gameplay or live TV a habit, consider purchasing a dedicated external hard drive. These recordings, especially if configured with a high bit rate, will quickly eat up your hard drive's storage space.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The 2nd choice is to use a dedicated external hard drive.
