50% failure rate with magnet links

I don't know what's going on lately with piratebay but about half the magnet links I try don't download anything, even though there are tons of seeders for the torrent. I use rtorrent on a centos server machine (command line only), rtorrent doesn't support magnet links so I have to convert them. Online converters have always worked fine but now I'm getting loads of torrents that just sit there at zero. Some torrents do work so the problem can't be at my end. Is this some kind of fightback from the copyrighters? Anyone else experience this?

I have a feeling its not an issue with TPB but more likely an issue with the magnet link converter your using, i use http://magnet2torrent.me/ and have never had any issues with the resulting torrent files when adding them to my rutorrent seedbox.

If you are using firefox browser there is an add on i found whilst looking into this issue that converts magnet links, torrent hashes and The Pirate Bay URLs to torrent files, however when testing i found that because it uses torrent storage services like Torrage.com for downloading torrent files it can be a bit hit and miss but is an extra alternative to using magnet to torrent converters.

Anyway try these suggestions and post back with your results.

thanks for your response, I use magnet2torrent.me and magnet2torrent.com all the time, I don't have any problem getting the torrent file, the problem is that about half the torrents I get just sit there at zero and never download. It never used to be this way, this has only started happening in the last couple of weeks. It does point to some kind of fightback/sabotage against available torrents. Sorry to be irksome but I don't like firefox browser, I'd rather keep it off m my system.

I really don't think there is a "fightback/sabotage against available torrents" going on with what you admit yourself appear to be well seeded torrents, it must be one of 2 things either as already suggested an issue with the converted .torrent file results or some other issue on your end. My final suggestion is to search the failed uploads on https://torrentz.eu/ to see if they have been uploaded elsewhere like KAT, or ET where .torrent file downloads are available along side magnet links.

maybe your isp is blocking certain sites then, try https://torrentz-proxy.com/ or https://www.torrentsmirror.com/
