Does this help? http://lifehacker.com/the-best-hidden-fe...1654434241

EDIT: Shit never mind that; that doesn't say it records live video. Sorry, I'll try again.

EDIT: Actually, it does say something about live video. Read that and see if it helps. I sure hope it does.
Don't have much time for a tut now, but you can do it with VLC, tho latest VLC stable version (v2) has a bug where the video hangs and v3 throws up the worst video quality. Do some research on it.
thanks i found this http://lifehacker.com/the-best-hidden-fe...1654434241 but that says its not powerful enough to record say a movie only short clips, i dont know if latest version is an improvment on the version tested in that article , i need something capable of capturing a live event that might be 90mins to say 3hours long

ill keep hunting

thx

Movavi Screen Recorder Studio for Windows kind of does what i want but it makes a PC run very hot, my CPU's got to 80c before a blue screen of death kicked in !!!!

so i/we still need a solution, how can we record livestreams of stuff eg stuff broadcast on youtube ???????

thanks
Instead of recording it to your pc/hdd, why don't you simply record it directly to a DVD recorder? you are streaming it live on your monitor already...
