on another forum i see https://streamlink.github.io (used to be called Livestreamer)

It is a command line tool , i installed the software apparently it can record dailymotion, livestream, twitch, ustream and youtube live as well as other sites.
i followed steps in this video to learn to use it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_NwDnQv...mnqZgNS1OI

he shows you open a command prompt then type streamlink (leave a space then copy the url to the video you want eg youtube.com/watch?v=qzMQza8xZCc (thats a nasa live stream you dont put http or www in) then click enter
then a 2nd cmd line shows so press the up key on keyboard (arrow pointing up) and it copies same info off 1st cmd line to the 2nd cmd line then hit space bar and type best ( to record best quality) press enter and itll start up vlc player and show the video your wanting to record , *** at this point the video i wanted showed up but was still/motionless in vlc and not moving like in his tutorial video..does anyone know why ?

so i had to give up that method and try his 2nd method which doesnt use vlc player, again on a cmd promp type streamlink --o ( o stands for output) then name the file to something that makes sense to you eg nasa then leave a space and copy in the url again eg youtube.com/watch?v=qzMQza8xZCc best and itll record to c\users\yourpcname to stop recording hit ctrl c, to open the file he says use vlc but i couldnt get that to work as the blank file type wouldnt play in vlc so anyone know why *** ? just to experiment i changed name of recorded file to nasa.mp4 or nasa.mkv so i tried wmp windows media player again it wont play so i tried cyberlink powerdvd and that works it will play the file so this is a way to record live streams : ) can anyone answer the problems i had where ive typed *** in this info to show you where to find the problems i had ? thanks and happy recording
once finished recording your left with a blank white file ( looks like no programme is associated with opening it ) i add .ts to the ending and found that both vlc and windows media player cant play these files

then i found cyberlink powerdvd and mpv media player can play the created files so use those
Try fastsone capture
