seeding
#1
hi to all

i  have created a torrent and i want it to have good seeds like say 50 etc..i have a fast speed net of 50 Mbps..i want to help my fellows by adopting and seeding torrents with no seeds....my main queries are
1.what are the changes to be made in utorrent??
2.should the bandwidth allocation be changed??
3.what is the share ratio and what part it plays in seeding?
4. how many hours should i keep the computer on?
5.after creating a torrent should i first upload it and seed or should i seed first and upload it???
i tried to search but theres no explanation
please explain me elaborately so that i can adopt and seed to the maximum extent.

regards
harsha.

1. there aren't any, uTorrent's default settings are fine.
2. no, uTorrent's default settings are fine.
3. the amount of data you have uploaded divided by the amount of data you have downloaded. It doesn't play any part in seeding (other than going up the more you seed), it's merely information.
4. as many as you want
5. it doesn't matter which (but it is easier to seed and then upload)

For a torrent to gain seeders, it has to be first downloaded by people, and then be seeded by them. Your torrent may not be that popular, and not many people may have downloaded it. And there is no guarantee that the people who download it will continue to seed it themselves.

You can seed your own torrent, but that will be counted as 1 seed (which is by you). So if people start seeding your torrent & keep seeding it, your seed count will be maintained by the number of people/downloaders that are actively seeding your torrent.

You can seed your own torrent, of course, but to get more than one seeder (you) someone else has to dowload the whole file and then seed it like you are. There is no guarantee that will happen. And no matter how much you seed, if no one else seeds as well, you will only have one seeder (you). If you think your torrent is that important to you, then keep seeding it for a long time, or forever, or whatever you want to do. But there is no way to force anyone else to seed it if they don't want to.

Lol. ranger03 just said the same thing as me. And he did it in less wordies.

Actually, I find it to be sort of remarkable that we said the same thing, in almost the same words. Amazing.

you can get seedbox to seed your torrents for a long time if it is important for you.
