my modem failed after thunderstorm
is there a way to correct it or i have to buy a new one
i have another modem (teracom ) which became faulty but i dont know the reason why
can anybody help me in this regard

You'd need to give more details Anacondaz. Make, model. What lights are flashing and what color. Does the Modem have logs facility and is the facility enabled etc.

An example would be the "beep" codes you get from laptops/PC's indicating and identifying a particular problem. Modems do this with how the lights flash, what colors flash and in what order.

the power light,ehternet light blinks ok
but the dsl light blinks without the cable connected to the modem
the name is vmc modem (THE MODEM IS NOT WORKING AFTER THE THUNDERSTORM)
model no is AN-1020-20

From experience, the power light should stay constant. The ethernet will blink as per traffic. The DSL light would indicate that you've internet via cable (Maybe telephone line).

Here's what i would do. Pull the modem and try it at a friends house with their log in credentials. If it works, the DSL (copper cable) got fried during the storm.
If it doesn't work then the Modem, and probably the copper cable are FUBAR.

If the former is true. Buy a new Modem and also invest in a surge protector.

Inform your ISP about the DSL issue and ask for protection (fibre) if possible. Tell them that your downtime has cost you money Wink
