internet speed boosting

ok so i'm haveing problems online with connection speeds i'm lagging out every now and again....

so i'm wondering how you forward ports to increase speed on the net...

You can only download and upload as fast as your ISP has you provisioned for. There is no magic that will let you exceed that.

Forwarding ports doesn't speed up anything, and is only necessary when you are behind a router performing NAT (Network Address Translation - where multiple computers share the same IP address - which is like 99% of home users on the internet these days).

Forwarding ports allows you to accept incoming connections. With your bittorrent client, this means you can potentially connect to any peer in the swarm. This has the potential to increase your download speeds, but it is no guarantee.
