A one that I've used in the past that seems pretty good is Malwarebytes. It's a paid program but you can get a free trail version that removes stuff
I used to also have Spybot search and destroy, but I haven't used that in years... It was good when I used it, but don't know if it's changed. I'd see what others respond as well, but those are the 2 i've actually used in the past.

As stated above, Malwarebytes is an excellent option and is very effective. Here is what the premium version pays for:
The premium version is not needed, because the free version scans are very effective for just malware, but there are full version cracks out there if you want it. http://1337x.to/torrent/3028316/Malwareb...gpatching/ I used the version above and I was satisfied with the results. Hope that helped!

I would go with Malwarebytes personally as their free version does what it says it will do and gets the job done quickly.

malwarebytes is good but a bit too overzealous.
if you want a free scan only (no permanent run in the background) have a look at these: https://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/eek/ https://www.kaspersky.com/downloads#tools - look for 'free tools' & kaspersky virus removal tool / kaspersky system checker a good (and free with ADs) AV Suite is: https://www.360totalsecurity.com/en/about/ they have a special offer to get rid of ads:

i never use software to scan my PC for malware.
but i always carefull when surfing on web sites and i did not install dubious apps. rather than busy with malware scanner wich take your time, i suggest you to reinstalling/refresh your os and next time should be more carefull with malware. of course it is just suggestion.

I use malwarebytes when I think my PC is affected and then remove it as soon as I feel my PC is back on track. I try to stay away from viruses

On Windows I use Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE). Its not the very best, but it works ok and is light weight. For offline scans I have used Avira free. I boot it up standalone and scan that way. For Linux I use nothing.
