I use VLC to watch HEVC/64/5 files, MVGroup torrents included, and have never had a problem with it. I'm not sure what configurations you did, but it sounds like your version may be outdated. Upgrade your VLC to one of the more recent versions and they should play no problem, I use vlc 2.2.1 and haven't come across a file it wouldn't play.

Works here with the latest VLC in linux. Perhaps your OS is causing the problem?

Perhaps the video codec is missing (not enabled).
See what you have under 'Plugins and Extensions' -> Plugins.

From a cursory search, the options for Mac OS to play HEVC videos seem limited.

Try another player for your OS. Came across 2 such for Mac OS.

Hope this helps.
I don't use a Mac. So am unable to verify or say anything for sure.
Do provide a link to the torrent you are unable to play, if possible.

the two players didn't do better unfortunetly,
and out of frustration i've been messing with the video codecs in VLC options,
and the video kind of started to show but it's sluggish and pixles are disrupted,,, it's unwatchable
but i do appreciate the effort ,thanks bro,
the torrent btw is from MVGroup

guess i'll just wait for the documentary to be uploaded in another format.

I tried it on VLC and MPC-HC on Windows.

VLC had difficulty rendering the video.
MPC-HC was better, but the video was jerky.
Audio came through fine in both.

I guess the high video bit-rate might be a reason.
I hope the encoding itself is good. There are nothing in the comments to indicate otherwise.

Atleast it looks like yours is not a HEVC playback issue, since you see some playback.
You could try Dr.XJ's uploads which play smoothly for me. (720p)

There are 1080p releases from other uploaders. You could try one of them and stick with that uploader / release group.

the (720p) one you provided is better , but still for some reason this grey screen keeps appearing, it blocks the view every 4 to 5 seconds,
i'll wait for another format to be uploaded, thank you for your time and consideration.
