can't download magnet links or torrents

when i try to download i'm asked to open a app instead of the file being directed to utorrrent. i've got the latest utorrent and windows 8.1

Please try making uTorrent (or any other torrent client you have installed) the default handler for magnet links. You will find the option in Settings/Preferences > Associations.

Be sure to click on the right download link (surrounded in red below) and not on an advertisement, you can use adblock to block these ads in the future.
