I'm intriguged by VLC, I've read mostly good things about it. I mainly use WMP with a codec pack I d/led a while ago.  I was going to download it, but ran into questions:

here are the search results that came up after I searched TPB for: VLC
https://thepiratebay.org/search/vlc/0/99/0

Look at the first few torrents... They were all uploaded today (today?? with mega seeders... Is this an error)

Also, I checked wikipedia and the official site for VLC... The version appears to be 3.0.1 and 3.0.0 respectively
wiki: 3.0.1
main site showing release 3.0.0

Can someone just tell me i'm paranoid and to STFU?  To me, if I can only verify 3.0.0 on the main site and .1 on wiki, and there is a version for example (6.6.6) uploaded today. To me, that looks like a virus filled fake (version 666) ... How can there be so many seeders if it was uploaded today???

Also, what version would you guys get if you wanted to choose?

Well, it is open source and free so I'm not sure why you wouldn't just get it from the source.

90% of the results i just saw (the ones from today) are from scammers uploading fake torrents. Go check it out.

All of those uploaders uploaded 50+ torrents today and nothing before that

Is this something known by the crew? Will this be taken care of automatically since they are aware, or should I report this? I don't want to be redundant and re-report a known issue...

If you are sure they are fakes u can report them

I frequently report them. But most of the time they get removed before my thread is seen by the crew.

I would check it, but im on my phone atm Smile

This one for example is a fake uploader for sure

Edit: i reported them

Now my usage patterns have changed.

On my Windows 7 computer, I use Windows Media Player 12 for both sound and video, and on my Linux Mint 18.1 computer, I use VLC for videos/DVD and Rhythmbox audios/music CDs.

I kind of like default stuff, but these programs are proven in effectiveness and compatibility.

I do use codec packs, and sometimes there are butt-hurting difficulties, but I do like the idea of codecs. It's fun.

What would be a codec pack that you would recommend?
