Who Can Vouch for Aiseesoft Total Video Converter (ATVC for short)
#1
Hey.

I downloaded ATVC and started to make homemade VCDs from it or, rather, convert 40 minute files into the MPG VCD format.

I tried to see if I can find a free solution, free in turtle soup and free in cries from the lashes of a taskmaster. It seems that I have to come back to it, and that's because ATVC is a good product in what it does. There's the problem... it's too good!

I tried Freemake, Format Factory, and the like. Dick-headed programs and would never go back for those.

Now, please be reminded that what I do with ATVC is to take old stuff, like WWE Smackdown 2005 episodes in AVI, split it in two so each episode can fit, and watch.

I don't do that for all my collections. It's just that I need to do it now since I have downloaded a bunch old DIVX/XVID videos back in the day and I want to test cdrtfe's (cdrtfe.sourceforge.io) VCD capability. I'm not trying to be dumb, it's just that I happen to love VCD. I collect DVDs and burn them, and I will continue, but there are exceptions.

If the question applies, what do you use if you want to convert video formats?

ConvertX is a long acquaintance. It even rhymes your name.

I never tried VCDs, but guess it can handle the format conversion part, since it not only converts to DVD but a bagful of codecs.
There's a bunch of tools in VSO Soft, makers of infamous BlindWrite, so pick your poison.

Btw, they speak French, if you fancy.

Yeah, there are lots of software projects in France, and you should also include VLC.

Well, I've never tried ConvertX other than ConvertXtoDVD.

How would you grade Aiseesoft Total Video Converter to modern trends? I know, I know, you would just download an MP4 and tell the situation to fuck its face.

What is your experience with Blindwrite? It might be off-topic, but I'm sold on trying any new face to prove whether ATVC can top that.

P.S. I just converted another AVI file to VCD-specified MPEG.

EDIT: Of course, the purpose of my starting this thread is just to discuss, I have no difficulties whatsoever.

First, I never used VCDs, nor Aiseesoft; Am a fan of NCH Soft Australia, makers of ExpressRip, a CD ripper (which I unbelievably bought) and a dozen other good utilities. While there's DVDshrink and WinCDemu, not much for me to do with other stuff. Btw, I also bought ConvertX too, many years ago. Love it.

Used BlindWrite a few times, very solid and easy. Thing is almost 100% automatic, unless you stumble on some new DRM technique it is unaware of.

Excavating old technology is always my hobby, actually more of a curse.

You see, I don't have the latest computers nor am I very well-acquainted with something like a Smartphone.
